HomeMy WebLinkAbout1945-11-02 286 Boz ema n, Mon tan a November 2nd, 1945 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, November '2nd, 1945, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present ,were Mayor Healy, Co~issioner Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager (q,uinnell, City Attorney Aitken~ Director of Finance Walter Davis, City Engineer Thorpe and the Clerk when the' following proceedings were had to-wit: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the minutes be approved as read, and the mo-. tion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Bus Line in City Mr. Lou Woodburn, of the City Taxi Lines, appeared before the' Commis~n to ask if he could operate a bus route from downtown to the College and return provided an M. R. C. per- mit can be obtained; the bus to run daily on a regular schedule. Mr. Woodburn was informed that he could file a formal application for a city license, ~e~ 6 e{ty ~iee~ee, with the route, schedule, and type of bus to be used, which would probably receive favorable con- sideration by the Commission soon after its presentation. Reports Ci ty Attorney Aitken reported that he was en tering a pe ti t10n for a rehearing in the supreme court rela tive to 1 ts decision in regard to cities issuing licenses to retail liquor dealers, and the city's right to cancel or refuse to is sue more than a certain number of such licenses. The City Attorney also reported that he had talked with the County Commissioners re- garding the deed issued by them for Lots 7 & 8; Block 31; Capitol Hill Addition, which was turned over to him for inves tiga tion, and tha t the County Commissioners had been ordered by the State Board of Equalization to insert an 011 and mineral reservation in all such deeds. The following reports for the month of October, 1945 were presented and read: Water Collector Chief of Police Cashier Polic e JudQ'e Cemetery Board It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissiorer Lowe; those voting No, none. Claims for the Month A claim of Mrs. A. C. Heckenliable, in the amount of $35.00 for professional services, rendered her son Richard, who sustained a broken arm on the merry-go-round at the south side park October 13th, 1945 was presented and read. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the claim be referred to the City Attorney for a report and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Claims Nos. 9142 to 9297 inclusive were presented to the Commission on the various, funds as follows: I I I I I I 287 Fund Amount Band Cemetery General Library Park Water Garbage Cemetery Suspense Plumbing Examiners Police Reserve s. The Manager stated that he has audited these claims andfinds them to be true and lawful claims against The City of Bozeman and recommends tmt warrants be drawn for their payment. After examination of the claims in detail by the City Commissioners, it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the claims be approved and warrants be drawn for their payment and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Lowe, and Commissioner Sorenson; 'these voting No, none. Motorcylce for Police Department The matter of a motorcycle for the Police Department was brought up for discussion. Chief of Police Haas reported considerable trouble with the police car now in use, and after discussion, it was moved by Com~issioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that bids be advertised for a motorcylce for the Police Department and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Public Hearing S.I.D. No. 339 The Manager stated that this was the time and place set for public hearing on the creation of Special Improvement District No. 339, for the conatwction of a sanitary sewer in the alley between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues frot!} Koch Street to Colle:<,e Street. The affidavit of publication of the Notice and the Clerk's mailing certificate that all prop- erty owners were notified were presented and read. It was stated that no protests had been filed and no one was presert to protest, whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the resolu- tion creating the district and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Public Hearing S.I.D. No. 340 The Manager stated that this was the time and place set for public hearing on the creation of Special Improvement District No. 340 for the construction of a sanitary sewer on North Fifth AvenlJe between Peach and a point fi fty feet sou th of Beall Street. The affid8vit of publication of the Notice and the Clerk's mailing certificate that all property owners were notified were presented and read. It was stated that no protests had been filed and no one was present to protest, whereupon it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the resolution creating the district and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those 'J8. Commission Meeting The matter of the .oi ty Commission meeting on some night other than Friday night was discussed. The ma tter was taken under advisement. Sections of the traffic ordinance were discussed by the Commission and the Chief of I Traffic Ordinance Police. Ad,journment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Comml~'sioner Sorenson that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
