The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City
Hall Building, Friday evening, January 12, 1945. Those being present were Mayor Landoe, Commissioner
Healy, Commissioner Busch, City Manager Quinnell, City Attorney Aitken, and the Acting-Clerk, when the

following proceedings were had to-wit:
The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Mayor Landoe, seconded
by Commissioner Healy, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried.
Public Affairs Committee of the Bozeman Chamber of Commerce
H. H. Dokken, E. B. Griffin and H. M. Gay, members of the Fublic Affairs Committee of the
Bozeman Chamber of Commerce appeared before the Commission and presented a program for postwar
improvements in the City of Bozeman. Mr. Gay stated that 100 questionnaires asking for postwar improve-
ment suggestions had been sent out by their organization and that 35 of these questionnaires were
returned with suggestions from the recipients. It was recommended that the matter be taken under
advisement and the commission decided that copies of the program be made for each member of the
commission.
Public Affairs Committee of the Junior Chamber of Commerce
Kenneth Richardson, George Bryant, and EdWard Howard representing the Junior Chamber of
Commerce appeared before the commission with the following recommendations for improving the personnel
and equipment of the Bozeman Fire Department:
1. The purchase of two (2) oxygen masks

2. The purchase of an auxiliary tank with necessary booster pump and hose
3. Wage increase for firemen, to hold the present staff and to attract additional qualified men.
4. The purchase of an extension ladder large enough to service the highest building in the Ci~
of Bozeman. (Present ladder will service only a two story building).
5. The purchase of an up-to~date chemical wagon with Foam Spray equipment.
6. A change in present pension plan to increase period of employment on which pension rate is
based to five years of highest salary.
The oommittee stated they would like to have the commission consider these proposals and
possibly give them some idea as to what could be done in the matter.
After considerable discussion~ the Manager informed the committee that many of these
items were not available at the present time~ but that if and when th~ are made available~ everything
possible will be done to furnish up-to-date fire fighting equipment for the department.

It was moved by Mayor Landoe and seconded by Commissioner Healy that the applioations be
aFproved and the lioenses issued and the motion was carried.
Reports
City Manager Quinnell presented and read a statement of operating cost in all departments
for the quarter ending December 31. 1944.
Stop Sign at Irving School
The placing of a stop sign at the Irving School was discussed. Mayor Landoe stated that
the traveling publio favored the sign and that the sohool teachers are being very co-operative in
the matter of proteoting the children while going to and from school.
Traffic Ordinance
The matter of parking trucks loaded with flamable liquids was discussed. Mr. Aitken stated
that he had all the information and would prepare a rough draft of the ordinance for consideration by
the City Commissioners at the next regular meeting.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time. it was moved
by Commissioner Healy. seconded by Con~issioner Busch that the meeting adjourn and the motion was
carried.
