HomeMy WebLinkAbout1945-02-23 I I I ?J ., ".) ~'~Ji() Bozeman, Montana February 23rd, 1945 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Build:inp;, Friday evening, February 23rd, 1945, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Landoe, Com!'!1issioner Healy, Commissioner Busch, City Manager Q1Jinnell, City Attorney Aitken, Director of Finance Walter Davis, City Engineer Thorpe, and the Clerk, when the following proceedincs were had to-wit: The mimJtes of the last rermlar session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the minutes be approved as read, and the mo- tion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none. Request for Sewer Connection Mr. Paul Smith, who lives north of the City Limits on Rouse Street, was present and asked permission to connect his property to the City sewer. He stated that the city trunk line ran very close to his property. It was pointed out that all property in the City is taxed for the maintenance of the sewers and the disposal of the sewa~e and there would not be any way th8t Mr. Smith's property cOllld be aSP,eS8ed by 'T'he City of Bozeman for :L ts share of this ma in tenance cos t. Mr. Smi th was informed tha tape ti tion C01, ld be cirClJla ted to have this porperty north of the Ci ty included wi thin the Ci t~r Limi ts, but that the precedent of permitting residences outside the City Limits to connect to the sanitary sewer and SeC1Jre this service at the expense of the city taxpayers should not be established. Application for City Licenses The following applications for City Licenses were presented and read: Woolworth's R. Earl Dawes Stnte Auto Co. Bozeman Courier The Bonnet Nook Edw. C. Haggerty Rawleigh Company Classic Beauty Shop William's Texaco Station Yellowstone Poster Adv. Co. It was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the applica- tions be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those votinp; Aye being Ma;Tor Landoe, Com""Jssioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none. Police Department Car The Manap;er stated th8t he would order a booster pump for the Fire Department on thirty day's approval, with the understandin~ that if the pump worked satisfactory the i~i ty would purchase it, otherwise it would be returned to the dealer wi thout cost to the City. Request for Use of Armory The Manager stated that a request had been made f~om the Gallatin Sportman's Associa- tion for the use of the Armory Drill Hall once a month as a meeting place for that organ- ization. Mr. Geo. Schraeder of the Sportsman organization was present and stated that with a membership of over 500, it was difficult to find a suitable meeting place. He said the organization performs a valuable comrmmity service, but with the small charge made for dues it would be difficult to pay for a meetinp place. The schedule of fees for the use of the Armory was presented and read, and it was decided that this orpanization would have to pay $20.00 per day for the use of the Drill 2()4 Hall as set forth in the present schedlJle. It was thourrht th8 t helpful informa tion could be ga thered from Grea t Falls in regard to charges made for the use of their Civic Center. Judgment Affirmed Watson Case The decision of the Montana Supreme Court affjrming the jud".ment of the District Court in the case of Mrs. Theo. Watson VB The City of Bozeman was presented by the City Attorney. Ordinance No.731 -- RestrictIng Parking of Tank Trucks Ordinance No. 731, reVJlating the parking of tank trucks and other vehicles engaged in transporting flammable liql1ids wi thin the Ci ty Limi ts was presented and read, enti tled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, RES'l'RIcrrDW AND REGULATING TIm PARKING OF TANK TRUCKS, TANK TRAILERS AND LIKE VEHICLES USED FOR THE TRANSPORTATION OF FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS, WITHIN THE FIRE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF B02F.MAl'J. After consideration by the Commission, it was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Healy that Ordinance No. 731 be passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none. Communication -- Re: PollceDepartrlent A communication from Gail L. Kinyon, Policeman, regarding the working conditions in the Police Department was presented and ordered filed. Adjournment There being no further business to come bAfore the Commission at this time, it was moved b~! Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Busch tha t the meeting ad,iourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none.
