Sidewalk on South Willson
Mr. .r. D. Pra tt and Louis Uhl:t>lch, owners of property on South VVillson, appeared be-
fore the Commission in connection with Mr. Swingle's reouest that a sidewalk be constructed
on the west side of Sou th Willson Avenue between Garfield and Cleveland Streets. Mr. Pre tt
stated that sidewalk construction cost has gone up 20% since the start of the war and he
WOlJld like to have the Commission wai t until after the war before ordering the walk in as
he felt that by that time the cost may not be S0 high.
Mr. Louis Uhlrich stated that the walk on the east side of Willson Avenue is in "fair"
condition and that his property abutting the proposed walk cannot be otherwise improved
at this time because of building restrictions. He said that he also would like to post-
pons this sidewalk con1"truction until after the war when a building could be built on his
lot. He was of the opinion that the walk would grow over with grass, with on one there to
look after it.

Band for Jaycee Roundup
Mr. Bud Henke and Joe Smith appeared before the Commission to ask that the City help
them sponsor a band for the J'a ycee Roundup. 'l'hey expla ined the t in order to have a com-
plete and balanced band for the show, bandsmen will have to be brought from Butte at con-
siderable expense; but that if the City of Bozeman cOlJld pay $250.00 for a concert to be
played on or near Main Str~et, August 17th, 1944, in connection with the parade, it wOllld
be possible to have a band for the show, and as the show is a community affair and the
proceeds are used for the community activities of the Jaycees throuahout the year, it was
thought that the City could give them this aid.
After consideratior by the Commission, it was decided that the band concert should
be played and a claim filed in the regular manner for the public service rendered.
Mr. Joe Hansford asked permission to close off a street for a street dance and a
"home-made" carnival to be held on Sunday night, September 3rd, during the Roundup. It
