HomeMy WebLinkAbout1944-09-01 1 I 1 159 Bozeman, Montana September Is t, 1944 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, September 1st, 1944, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy, Commissioner Busch, City Manager Quinnell, City Attorney Aitken, City Engineer Thorpe and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had to;,..wit: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commis- sioner Healy and Commis8ioner Busch; those voting No, none. Club at 303 West Mendenhall Mr. Thad Ely of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Doug Ferguson appeared before the Commission to inquire if the property at 303 West Mendenhall, located in the Business- Residence District No.1, could be occupied as a club house for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and if the club so located would be permitted to have a bar and to sell liquor to the mem- bers of their organization. The two gentlemen were informed that the City Zoning Ordinance permits the establish- ing of clubs in this district, but that the ordinance also provides that liquor can not be served or Bold in any business establishment so located. The gentlemen were also informed that before a city club license could be issued for the sale of beer and liquor,a written applicRtion should be made to the City Commission and a state license obtained. They were advised to take the matter up with the State Liquor Control Board before applying for a city license. Claims for Month of August, 1944 Claims Nos. 6933 to 7078 inclusive were presented on the various funds as follows: Band Cemetery Ceme tery Suspense W - H Tax War Bond Garbage General Library Park Water $ 255.55 1,487.24 130.00 1,517.86 168.75 883.11 7,807.32 404.44 1,658.82 1,633.90 $ 15,946.99 .- Total " and claims Nos. 157 to 169 inclusive for the Nursery School (Project No. 24M5) in the amount ," of $7Il.70 were also presented. The Manager stated he has audi ted these claims and finds them to be true and lawful claims agains t The City of Bozeman and recommends that warrants be drawn for their payment. After examination of the claims in detail by the City Commis- sion, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the claims be approved and warrants drawn for their payment and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none. Application for City Licenses The application of H. G. Darlinton for a City Business License and the application of the Bozeman Country Club for a City Beer License were presented and read. It was moved by Commissi oner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the applications be approved and licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting 160 Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none. Reports The following reports were: presen ted and read: Librarian for the months of June and July, 1944 Chief of Police for the month of August, 1944 It was moved by Commia& oner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landb~, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none. Resignation -- Police Departrrent The Manager reported that Harry A. Kensmoe had resigned from the Police Department and that Marlon F. Kelley had been appointed to fill the vacancy.
