HomeMy WebLinkAbout1944-09-29 1 ,I 1 lfi5 Bozeman, Montana September 29th, 1944 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, September 29th, 1944, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy, City Manager Quinnell, City Attorney Aitken, Director of Finance Walter Davis, City Engineer Thorpe and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had to-wit: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Landoe that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe and Com- missioner Healy; those voting No, none. Resolution No. 546 -- Garbage Asses~ment .. Final Passage The Manager stated this was the time and place set for public hearing on the final passap:e of Resolution No. 546, levyin~ the assessment for garbage disposal and collection for 1944. He presented the affidavit of pUblication of the Notice and stated that no one was present to protest and no protests had been filed. He presented Resolution No. 546, en ti tIed: A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MON'l'ANA LEVYING AND ASSESSING A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON ALL REAL PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLATIN, STATE OF MONTANA, SERVICED A1m FROM WHICH GARBAGE WAS COLLECTED AND REMOVED DURING THE YEAR 1944, TO DEFRAY THE COST AND EXPENSE OF COLLECTING AND DISPOSING OF GARBAGE UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 696 OF THE CITYCF BOZEMAN, MONTANA. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Mayor Landoe that the Resolution be finally passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Resolution No. 548 Weed Assessment Final Passage The Manager stated this was the time and place set for the hearing on the final passage . and adoption of the Resolution levying the assessment for weed removal for the year 1944. He presented affidavit of publication of the Notice, and stated no one was present to pro. test, and that no protests had been filed. He presented Resolution No. 548, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN LEVYING AND ASSESSING A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON CERTAIN PROPERTIBS IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLATIN, STATE OF MONTANA, TO DEFRAY THE COST OF EXTERMINATION AND REMOVAL OF NOXIOUS WEEDS FOR THE YEAR 1944 PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF OR- DINANCE NO. 428, "AN ORDINANCE DEFINING A~ID PROVIDING FOR THE PUNISHMENT AND ABATEMENT OF CERTAIN NUISANCES." It was moved by Commis sioner Healy, seconded by Mayor Landoe too t the Resolution be f1.nally passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; . those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Resolution No. 549 -- W & C 1944 Assessment The Manager stated that the Resolution levying the assessment for Miscellaneous W~lk and Curb repair and construction for the year 1944, in the amount of $679.65, had been prepared. He presented and read Resolution No. 549, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN LEVYING AND ASSESSING A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON CERTAIN PROPERTIES IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLATIN, STATE OF MONTANA, TO DEFRAY THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING A1-TD INSTALLING AND/OR REPAIRING MISCELLANEOUS SIDEWALKS AND CURBS DURING THE YEAR 1944. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Mayor Landoe that the Resolution be provisionally pasfled and adopted and the date for public hearing of protests be set as October 6th, 1944 and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting 16() Aye being Mayor Landoe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Gas Fitter and Plumbing Bond The Gas Fitter's License Bond and Plumber's License Bond of K. J. Stimson, doing business as the McCay }~rdware, were presented. The bonds were approved as to form by the City Attorney, whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Mayor Landoe that the bonds be accepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, 1 none. COmnnlnication Chief of Police A communication from R. C. Embry, Chief of Police, was presented and read, recom'" mending that steps be taken to improve the working conditions of the police force by moving the police office closer to the cells and on the same floor, because of prisoners breaking out and getting aid from persons on the outside and the existing fire hazard; and thRt additional help be provided to take care of the radio so the department can work more efficiently. The matter was discussed by the Commission, but it was thought that because of war conditions this was not an opportune time to make the auq;gested changes and improvements. Adjournment There being no ~lrther business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by vommissioner Landoe that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
