HomeMy WebLinkAbout1944-11-10 1 I 1 It,; Bozeman, Montana November 10th, 1944 The Commission of The lJit:v of Bozeman met in reR:ular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, November 10th, 1944 at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy, Commissioner Busch, City Manager ~uinnell, City Attorney Aitken, Director of Finance Walter Dawis, City Engineer Thorpe and the clerk, when the following proceedings were had to-wit: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commis8ioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following hye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Com- missioner &18Ch and Commissioner Healy; tho~e voting No, none. AppliCAtion for City License The application of R. J. LaBlackie for a !-year City License was presented and read. It was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Commisf'Jioner Healy that the application be approved and the license issl1ed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe. Commissioner Busch and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Reports The following reports for the month of October were presented and read: Fir e Chief Director of Finance It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landos, Commi~sioner &1sch and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Reouest for Abatement of Taxes The appliCAtion of abatement of the garbage assessment in the amount of $3.52 on Lots 22, 23, 24; BlOCK 7; Sprin~brook Addition, signed by E. W. Kurk was presented and read. The applic8tion stated the house was only used by Mr. Kurk occasionally, when he came up from Belgrade, but that the water has been paid for all ~Te'::!r, and a parden had been raised on the property. After discus sion, the amount involved being campara tively small, and the time of occupancy indefinite, and the amount of service rendered difficult to deterrr:ine, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the application for the abatement be denied and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those votlng Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy and vommissioner Busch; those voting No, none. Bid for Community Room. City Manager Q.uinnell reported that during the past week he had submitted a formal bid of $25.00 per month to the Federal Governmen t for the use of the Communi ty Room, in the Armory Bllllding" during the six months period ending May 15th, 1945, to be used by ~I., ~ the &lreau of C~nsus fo~ ~ffice space. Nlain Street Extension and North R0l1.Se Improvement City Mana~er Quinnell reported that Friday, November 10th, he had gone to Helena, wi th the Ci ty' s plans to consult wi th highway enQ;ineers in regard to secllring Federal Aid for the improvement of North Rouse Avenue to the City Limi ts and alAo for the extension of Main Street west and south so as to connect it by means of easy curves with Federal Highway named; tha t if the Ci t~T wished to des ign8 te a Bozeman lady to chri sten the ship, she should be named immedin tely in order tha t arrangements could be made for the launching, 1 17H " 191 (Huffine Lane) at a point a.pproximately one-half mile west of Eleventh Avenue, thus elimina ting the nmd condition on Nor th Rouse and the exis ting traffic hazards on Eighth Avenue. Delegate to Christen S S Bozeman The Mayor presented a lettAr statin~ that The City of Bozeman had been selected as one of two cities in the State of Mnntana for which a victory merchant ship would be December 19th, 1944. After disCl1ssion, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commisf;ioner Busch that Mrs. Emil Dahl be named to christen the vessel and to represent The City of Bozeman a t the christening ceremonies, and the motion was carried bv the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Comrnissi oner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those voting NO, none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commis~oner Busch that the meeting adjourn and the motion wa~ carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none.
