January 28th, 1944,
The Commission of The City ot Bozeman met in regular session in theCommisslon Room,
City Hall Building, Friday evening, January 28th, 1944, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being
present were Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Healy, City Attorney Aitken,
City Manager Quinnell, and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had to-wit:
The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner
Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Com-
missioner Healy and Commissioner Lowe: those voting No, none.

Applications for City Licenses
The following applications for City Licenses were presented and read:

W. Q. GedoBch
F. Harl Caven
Schlechten Studio
Montana Flour Mills
Hotel Baxter & Cafe
Bozeman Coca Cola Bottling
Bozeman Feed & Grain Co.

together with the applications of the Bax~er Hotel for a City Beer and a City Liquor
License.
It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the applica-
tions be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner
Healy; those voting No, none.
Post-War Planning ~oard
The Manager reported that all organizations had not nominated representatives for the
Ci ty' s Post-War Planning Board, but th.:1t an effort would be made during the week to see
that the necessary nominations are recieved.
The Manager also read a list of post-war department improvements suggested for
consideration as Boon as the Planning Board is organized.
Garbage -- Request to make partial payment
A communication from Mrs. Alta Myers, 522 North Willson, offering to pay $8.00 for
for the settlement in full of her garbage bills for 1940 to 1943, in order to clear title
to her property was read.
It was pointed out that the only way that Mrs. Myers can clear her title 1s to pay
her delinquent assessments to the County Treasurer and if she then teels that she 1s
entitled to an adjustment she might file a claim for the amount to be presented to the
City Commission tor consideration and allowance or disallowance.

Request to purchaaeCity Property
A committee composed of Frank Grant, Wm. Bohart, Ha~old Roys, E. H. Dahl, Geo. Monroe,
and others from the Eagles Lodge appeared before the Commission to inquire about the con-
struction of an east side fire escape and entrance to their building on ground owned by
the City and located between the City Hall ~nd the Eagle's Buildin~ and the leasing or
purchasing sufficient land from the City on which to erect a suitable stairway for the
en trance.

They stated they would be willing to either purchase the land outright or lease it
for twenty-five years; and if they could thus acquire the land on which to build, they
would construct a concrete and steel entrance to the second and third floors on the east
side of their building.
The committee also stated that if permissable, following the

completltion of the proposed side entrance, the front entrance. might be closed.
The Commissioners stated they would have to give some fur.ther.thought to the ma.tter
before reaching a decision and in the meantime the building code would be consulted to
see if the present front entrance could be eliminated after the construction of the pro-
posed side entrance and also to determine the requirements for the construction of the
proposed side entrance.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was

the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor
Landoe, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
