The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Friday evening, March 3rd, 1944, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those belng
present were Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Lowe, City Attorney Aitken, City Manager Quinnell,
Director of Finance Walter Davis and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had:
The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner
Lowe, seconded by Mayor Landoe that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Lanooe and Com-
missioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Applications for CityLlcenses
The following applications for City Licenses were presented and read:

It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Mayor Landoe that the applications be
approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe and Commhlsioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Reports
The following reports for the month of February were presented and read:

Fire Chief
Police Judge

Cemetery Board

Employment Officer
Plumbing Inspector
Director of Finance
and the Plumbing Inspec tor's report for the months 'of November and December, 1943 and
January 1944.

accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote;
those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe and Cormnlssioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Claims for the Month

The Manager stated he has audited these claims and finds them to be true and lawful
claims against The City of Bozeman and recommends that warrants be drwan for their payment.
After examination of the claims in detail by the City Commissioners, it was moved by
Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Mayor Landoe that the claims be allowed and warrants
drawn for their payment and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote;

Claim No. 6160, signed by Mrs. Alts Myers for an adjustment on the garbage assessment
at 322 North Willson was presented and read~ Mrs. Myers stated that the rentable prop-
erty at this location has been vacant for over two years and that no garbage has ever been
hauled; she therefore, felt that she was entitled to a refund of $8.00 or approximately

one-half of the assessment.
After discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded
bv Mayor Landoe that the claim be allowed end a warrant drawn for its payment and the mo-
tion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe
and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Request to Install R R S~lr across East Curtiss
The Manager stated that the Gallatin Valley Seed Company had made a request to extend
a railroad spur across East Curtiss Street about one half way between South Wallace Avenue
and the first alley west. He stated further that the location had been looked over by
the City Engineer a nd the Street Superintendent and the spur would not interfere wi th the
use of the street by the public.
After further discus sion, it was moved by Commisl'lione.r Lowe, seconded by Mayor Landoe
that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare a resolution permitting the construction
of this spur, said resolution to be S1 bmitted to the City Commission for final action
at its regular meeting and the motion was carried by the folloWing Aye and No vote; those
'Toting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Aromry -- Drill Hall for AAF
The Manager stated the Army Air Force had made a request for the use of the Drill
Hall March 9th, for an anniversary gathering in honor of the trainees at M. S. C. and
that it was deemed advisable that no charge be made for its use for this purpose.
Airport -- Van Hoorn Ditch
The Manager reported that Mr. George Van Hoorn who leases the tillable tract of land
west of the Airport, described as the E~ of the SEl, Section 1, TIS, R 4 E, had offered
to deed the City of Bozeman, without cost, the ditch that carries his irrigating water
to this land.
It was pointed out that the culvert crossing under the Northern Pacific Railway for
this ditch is badly in need of repair, but it was thought that the increase in value of
the above described land, owned by the City, by reason of the said land being irrigated
would more than off-set the cost of repairing the culVert.
The Manager recommended that before the City Commission took final action in the
matter a survey and examination of the premises be made by himself and the City Engineer
and tha t they submi t a report of their findings to the Commission a t the next reglJ lar
meeting, this betng agreeable with the Commission, and it was so ordered.

There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was
moved by Commisf'\ioner Lowe, seconded by Mayor Landoe that the meeting adjourn and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye be~ng Mayor Landoe
and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
