HomeMy WebLinkAbout1944-03-10 10H Bozeman, Montana March lOth, 1944 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, March 10th, 1944 at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy, Commissioner Lowe, City Attorney Aitken, . " City Manager Quinnell, and the Acting Clerk, when the following proceedings were had: The minutes of the last rellular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Com- missioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Applications for City Licenses The following applications for City Licenses were presented and read: Joe Bosma Staudaher's Woolworth's Sam Hollier R. T. Jacobs Roy D. Houser M. P. Schauer The Willson Co. M. L. Gillette M. L. Hultgren Mt. View Courts A. R. Mackleberg Evergreen Grocery Don's Barber Shop Bozeman Cafeteria Snappy Service Inn Classic Beauty Shop Golden Crust Bakery J. C. Penney Company Monarch Lumber Company Chambers-Fisher Company Bozeman Cold Storage Co. Baxter Hotel Barber Shop Yellowstone Poster Adv. Co. It was moved bv Commis~oner Healy, seconded by. Commissioner Lowe that the appli- cations be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Report The Income and Expenditure Report for the Nursery School (FWA Project 24-M5) for the month of February, 1944 was presented and read. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the report be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healv and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Nursery School Amendment to Offer The Manager stated the Federal Works Agency had submitted an amendment to their "Offer" for the maintenance and operation of the Nursery School, changing the date and increasing the amount of the FWA Grant. After discussion and consideration by the Commission, Com- missioner Lowe offered the following resolution: WHEREAS, there has been filed with the Federal Works Agency in behalf of The City of Bozeman, Montana, (herein called the Owner), an application for Fed- eral assistance under the War Public Works program, and the United States of America, acting by and through the Federal Works Adiminstrator, has transmitted to the Owner an offer of Federal assistance in connection with the public works referred to in said application and descirbed in said Offer; and WHEREAS, said Offer has been duly read in open meeting, fully considered in accordance with the pertinent rules of procedure and legal requirements, and made a part of the OWner's publiC records; and r WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable and in the publiC interest that said Offer be accepted. NOW, THBRII:, be it resolved by the City Commission of the Owner that s~dd Offer, a true and correct copy of which, including the Terms and Conditions, is here- to attached, be and the same hereby is accepted without reservation or qualification. It was moved by 00mmissloner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that tqe above resolution be passed and adopted and the mot~on was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Lowe; thoee voting No, none. 1 I 1 ~ 107 Airport -- Van Hoorn Ditch The Manager reported that during the past week, the City Engineer, Archie Coleman, and himself had visited the location of the irrigating ditch that Mr. Van Hoarn offered to deed to the Ci ty, provided the Ci ty would take the responsibili ty of repairing the culvert crossing under the Northern Pacific Railway. The Manager reported further that 1 the culvert is not located as had been understood; it being only about fifty feet from the re in fore ed concrete culvert which the City now owns, and the t therefore, it would be inadvisable for the City to spend money repairing the Van Hoarn culVert. City Attorney Aitken stated that he had written Mr. Van Haarn asking for more in- formation in regard to the culvert, but had not heard from him as yet. After further discussion, the Commission thought there might be a question as to the ownership of the culvert used by the, City and that consequently the matter should be investigated further. Gallatin Valley Seed Co. Spur Blue prints of the Gallatin Valley Seed Company's proposed railway spur crossing East Curtiss Street between South Wallace and the first alley west were presented to the Gom- mission for examma tion. After examination, the Ci ty Attorney was ins truc ted to proceed wi th the necessary permits-' to be presented a t the next regular meeting of the Commission for final action. I AdJournment The being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe~ Commissioner Healy and Commlssloner Lowe; those voting No, none.
