The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Friday evening, June 2nd, 1944, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present
were Mayor-Landoe, Commissioner Healy, Commissioner Busch, City Manager Quinnell, City

Attorney Aitken, Oity Engineer Thorpe and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were
had to-wit:
The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner
Healy, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion
was carried by the folldwing,Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commis-
sioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none.
Applications for City Licenses
The following applications for City Licenses were presented and read:
Roecher's Drug Company
Hauseman's & McCalla
It was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the applications
be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those
voting No, none.
The application of the Baltimore Hotel for a City License accompanied by one-half of
the license fee and a letter explaining that the business had operated at 40% of the pre-
ViOtlS year wi th a loss of over $1500.00 and the proprietor fel t, therefore, the t $15.00
a fair settlement, was presented and read.
After discussion, the City Manager was instructed to inform Mr. Dunn of the Baltimore
Hotel that the City Commission cannot make an adjustment in the amount of the license fee,
bu t tha t the fee could be paid in full and if Mr. Dunn felt he was anti tIed to a refund he
could file a cl'i~stating his reason~tor the consideration of the City Commission at some
fu ture meeting.
Claims for the M0nth of May
Claims Nos. 6446 to 6582 inclusive were presented on the various funds as follows:

The claim of the Bozeman Municipal Band for two concerts at $130.00 per concert was
discussed by the City Commission. It was agreed that the amount of money available for
concerts during the season should be determined and used as a basis for setting up the
concert program. Then the concerts should be given at a tirre when the local citizens could'
most easily attend and enJoy them. It was thought the t not more than two concerts per
month would fill the need for this class of entertainment. It was also agreed that the
personel of the band should be listed on each claim presented for payment.
The Manager stated that he has audited the above-totaled claims and finds them to be
true and lawful claims against The City of Bozeman and recommends that warrants be drawn
for their payment. After examination of the claims in detail by the City Commission, it

was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Busch that wa-rrants be drawn for
their payment and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting
Aye being Ma.yor Landoe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those... vot1.ng No, none.
Reports for the Month of May
The following reports for the month of May were presented and read:

Chief of Police

It was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the reports
be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Busch and vommissioner Healy;
those voting No, none.
Request for Street Services
The Manager stated that an Evangelist from the Grace Gospel Tabernacle has made a
request to hold services on the sidewalk at the corner of Main Street and Tracy Avenue
between two and three o'clock in the afternoon.
The reques t was discus sed and a ttention was .called to the fact tha t this corner is
a very busy place especially on Saturday afternoons and that the interruption of pedes-
trian traffic in this manner, at such times, would be contrary to the public interest.
Whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the
request be denied and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those
voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those voting
No, none.
Appointment
Airport Board
The Mayor announced the reappointment of Dean Chaffin for the three-year term end-
ing July 30th, 1947, as the City of Bozeman's representative on the Gallatin Airport
Board.
It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the appoint-
ment be approved and the motion was carried by the following aye and No vote; those
voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commis~ioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those voting
No, none.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was
moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the meeting adjourn and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor
Landoe, Commissioner Busch and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
