The Commission of The Ci ty of Bozeman met in reglJlar session in the Commission Room,
Friday evening
City Hall Building,/June 9th, "1944, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor
Landoe, Commissioner Healy, Commissioner Busch, City Manager Quinnell, City Attorney Aitken,
Director of Finance Walter Davis and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had:
The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner
Healy, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye be ing Mayor Landoe, Com-
mBsioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those vot~ng No, none.
Request to Sell Beer at Retail
Mr. Joe Hansford of the Safeway Stores appeared before the Connnission and stated tha t
his compan y WOl' Id like to sell beer a t the Safewa y Store located at ll9 West Me in for ou t-
side consu~ption.
Mr. Hansford explained that he was anxious to learn as soon as pOSSible
whether or not the City would issue a license for this purpose because in the event of
favorable action by the City Commission, he would make immediate application for the
necessary state license, which would permit him to commence the sale of beer by July lst.
He also stated that beer is sold in many Safeway Stores throughout the state.
The Commission discussed the matter, and it was taken under advisement.
Application for City License
The application of the Baltimore' Hotel for a City License was presented and read. It
was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the application be
approved and the license issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those
voting No, none.
Reports
The following reports for the month of June were presented and read:
Cern etery Board
Nursery School
It was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Commissioner healy that the reports be
accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following ~ye and No vote;
those voting ~ye being Mayor Landoe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner BUSCh; those
vo tlng No, none.
Nursery School
The City Manager reported that the Budget Committee of the Bozeman Community Chest
had informed him tha t his applies tion for a beneficiary membership for the Bozeman Nursery
School Project 24-M-5 had been ~ranted.
Misc. W & C 1944
A list showing locations on North Grand Avenue where new sidewalk construction has

been requested by persons living in that area was presented and read. After examination
of these locations, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Busch
that this list be approved and made a part of the list presented at the meeting of May
26th, 1944, and that the City Manager cause notice to be given to the property owners
affected to construct new sidewalks abutting their properties as listed and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor ~andoe, Com-
missioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none.

A similar request for sidewalks on South Grand and South Willson was also presented,
but upon examination it was decided that these walks not of sufficient public importance
to warrant an official order demanding their construction at this time.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was
moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the meeting adjourn and
the motion was carried by the following aye and no \Ote; those voting Aye being Mayor
Landoe, Commissioner Busch and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
