HomeMy WebLinkAbout1944-06-30 142 Bozeman, Montana June 30th, 1944 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, June 30th, 1944, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Commissioner Healy, Commissioner Busch, City Manager Quinnell, City Attorney Aitken, Director of Finance Walter Davis, City Engineer Thorpe and the Clerk when the fol- lowing proceedings were had to-wit: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Busch, Seconded by Commissioner Healy that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Connnissioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none. AppliCAtion for City License The application of the Franklin Fur Company for a City License was presented and read. It was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the application be approved and the license issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye beingComm1ss10ner Healy and Connnissioner Busch; those voting No, none. Bids for Police Uniforms The Manager stated this was the time and place set for the opening of bids fcrr uni- f'orms for the Police Department. The a. ffidavi t of publica tion of the Notice to Bidders was presented and the Call for Bids was also presented and read. Whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the bids be opened and read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Com- missioner H~aly and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none. The bid of Cresap McCracken, being the only bid submitted, was opened and read. After examina t10n of the samples presented and amounts bid, it was moved by Commis ~ oner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the bid of Cresap McCracken for sixteen ounce serge, in the amount of $58.25 for each uniform with two pairs of trousers be accepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Com- missioner Busch and CommisS'lioner Healy; those voting No, none. Resolution No. 543 -- Final Passage The Manager stated this was the time and place set for the hearing of protests to the final adoption of Resolution No. 543 levying the assessment for sno~ removal for the year 1944. He presented and read the affidavit of publication of the Notice of Hearing and stated no protests had been filed and no one was present to protest against the final passage of the said Resolution No. 543, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THR COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN LEVYING AND ASSESSING A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON CERTAIN PROPERTIES IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLATIN, STATE OF MONTANA, TO DEFRAY THE COST OF REMOVAL OF SNOW FOR THE YEAR 1943-1944 PURSUANT TO PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 502, ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE REMOVAL OF SNOW FROM THE SIDEWALKS IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 385, ENTITLED: 'AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE REMOVAL OF SNOW AND ICE, DIRT, FILTH AND OTHER OBSTRUCTION FROM SIDEWALKS ON MAIN STREET BETWEEN WALLACE AVENUE AND FOURTH AVENUE IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN lit It was moved by Commis si oner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Healy the t the resolu- tion be finally passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following dye and No vote; those voting Aye being commissioner Busch and Commissioner Healy; those voting No,none. Garbage Contract for 1944-1945 The Manager stated th8t after discussion with City Attorney Aitken, it had been decided that the present contract for disposal of garbage could not be extended for another -I" I 1 I. I 1 1.48 year without advertising for bids, and that bids should be called for to provide the service during the com~ng fiscal year ending June 30th, 1945. It was then moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the Clerk be authorized to advertise for bids, to be opened July 21st, 1944, for garqage disposal service until .June 30th, 1945 and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Healy and Commission~r Busch; those voting No, none. Closing Office July 3rd, 1944 The Manager reported that members of the Retail Merchants Exchan~e and the County Offices were closing July 3rd, 1944 in accordance with the Govenor's proclamation declaring July 3rd, 1944 to be a legal holiday, and recommended that the City Office be closed. It was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Healy that in accordance with the Manager's recommendation and the Governo's proclamation the City Offices be closed July 3rd, 1944 and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Healy and Commis si oner Busch; those voting No, none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none.
