HomeMy WebLinkAbout1943-03-12 8 Bozeman, Montana March 12th, 1943 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, March 12th, 1943, at ?:30 o'clock P.M. 'Those being present were Mayor BUSCJ:1, Commissioner Sorenson, City Attorney Aitlwn, City .lhanager i;;J,uin- nell, Director of Finance Walter Dnvis, City Engineer Thorpe, and the Clerk, wl1en the following proceedln[1"s were had to-wit: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, s econded b~T Mayor Busch thAt the minu tes be approved as read and the mo tion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Busch, Corn- missioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. Reports The following reports for the month of February were presented and read: Employment Officer Plumbing Inspector Fire Chief It was moved by Commis s1 oner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Busch tha t the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried b" the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Busch, Commissioner Sorenson; those voting Yo, none. Nurf'ery S.chool The Manl'J p;er repor tad that the applic n tion for continua tion of the Boz eman Nursery School wi th Lanrlam Ac t funds had been denied by the Denver office of Regional Heal tb and Welfare Service, on the grounds that reports from the U. S. Employment Service of Bozeman do not show the need for services of local working mothers in the war effort a t the present time. The Manager s ta ted further th~3 t the ma tter had been presen ted to Sen8 tor :Murray and tha t the Sean tor had asked tlle U. ~'l. Office of:<;(~uca tion to reverse the ac tion of the Denver Office. Meanwhile the Nursery School Committee is continuing its efforts to have the project financed b~ means of the Lanham Act. Victory Gardens The 1~nager stated that a number of lots where city water is available for Victory Gardens have been selected and their locations plotted, and that notice had been published asking all persons interested in raising a Victory Garden to report to the City Office, so thAt the Commi ttee in charge may get a line on the amount of ground rem) ired for these gardens and act accordingly. I I I I I I 9 Bids for G3rba~e Contract ( The Manager stated that owing to war conditions the City covld not get the necessary equipment to take over the collection and removal of garbage and that in order to be assured of its disposition by contract during the coming fiscal year it might be well to advertise for bids now for the hauling and disposal of garbage for a year's period ending June 30th, 1944. It was moved by CommisRioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Busch thnt the City r',~anager be authorized to advC'rtise for bids for garbage disposal for the year ending June 30th, 1944, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Busch, and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the meeting ad.iourn and the motion was carried b;T the followinp; Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor EUSCfl and Commissioner ~orenson; those voting No, none.
