The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, March 26th, 1943, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Busch, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Landoe; City Attorney Aitken, City Manager Quinnell, Director of Finance Waltor Davis, and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had to-wit: Tr'e minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was rroved by Commissioner Landoe, seconded by Commis sioner Sorenson that the minu tes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those votin8 AJe being Mayor Busch, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Landoe; those voting No, none. Application for City License The applicstion of the Gallatin Valley Seed Company for a City License was presented and read. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commis~ioner Landoe that the application be approved and the license issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vo te; those voting Aye being Mayor Bus ch, Commis .,:,1 oner Landoe and Commis sioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. Appointments The Mayor announced the followinrr reappointments to the Recreation Board for terms of tlree years each. Mrs. P. C. Gaines Mrs. Eleanor Anderson J\'Tr. Wal ter Chauner It was moved by Commissioner Lancloe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the ap- pointments be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and Fo vote.; those voting Aye being Mayor Busch, Commissioner Sorenson and CommissionC'r Landoe; those voting No, none. Caretak(~r at Ci ty Dump City Manager Quinnell stated that Mr. R. T. Bell has resigned as c',retalcer at the City Dump and Mr. W. G. Smith had been appointed in his place. Communication A communication from Mr. D. B. Swingle was read requesting that U-turns be permitted at two intersections on Main Street; vix., Main and Rouse Avenues and at Grand and Main Street, to help with gasoline and rubber conservation. The Manager stated he had conferred with the Chief of Police and it was his recommendat:lon that the present ordinance be com- plied with and that no U-turns be allowed on Main Street; it was further expained that the stop lights have been tlJrned off on ~,Tain Street to eliminnte stopping and startin.iY in an effort to save pas and tires. Recreation Program The ManAger st8 ted thnt after diRcussing the ;;1a tter wi th School Superintendent ViTilliams, he had recommended to thos e working for a combina tion Ci t~T-School Dis tric t phys ical edlJCa- tlon and recreation program that they prepnre a plan of operation for their program they have in mind and submit it to the City Recreation Board and school authorities for consid- eration; that the plan should be detailed so that comparative costs conld be considered in the connection with the prepartion of the budgets for the coming fiscal years. ... 12 Nursery School The IV1anager stated that Dr. Mahan, of the National Defense Heal th and Welfare Service, and Mrs. Laroway, State F.W.A. Director of Service Projects met with local commi ttee to discuss the contJnue tion of the Boz emen Nursery School wi th Lanham Ac t funds, and that after looking over our Nursery School se t-up ~)r. Mahan had s ta ted he would recommend and urge that necessary flmds be granted for the continuation of the school under the Lanham Act. Deed to Vacated Curtiss Street The City Attorney stated that the City Council on January 7th, 1909 had by order vacated West Curtiss Street between Twelfth and Thirteenth Avenues lying between Blocks 2 and 7 in the West Side Addition; that this ground is now changing hands and the Insur- ance Company believes a quit-claim deed should be given by the City to the purchasers for the part of West Curtiss Street sO vacated. City Attorney Aitken presented a quitclaim deed prepared for the purpose and stated that in his opinion no difficulties WOlJld arise from its iSE'uance by the Ci ty. After discussion, it was~'oved by Commissioner Landoe, seconded by Comm"tssioner Sorenson thp t the f,.'layor and the Clerk be authorized to sip:n the qui tclaim deed for The City of Bo~eman to be delivered by the City Attorney and subject to his ~lrther inves- tigation and approval, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Busch, Commissiorer Sorenson and Commissioner Landoe; those voting No, none.
