HomeMy WebLinkAbout1943-04-09 I I I 15 Bozeman, Montana April 9 th, 1943 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, April 9th, 1943, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Commissioner Landoe, Commissioner Sorenson, City Attorney Aitken, City Manager Quinnell, Director of Finance Walter Davis, City Engineer Thorpe and the Clerk when the following proceedin~s were had to-wit: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Landoe that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the followinp; Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Landoe; those voting No, none. Amendment to Ordinance No. 193 The matter of enforcing curfew regulations requiring minor children to be off the street drl.ring the la te evening hours was discussed. The Manager reported that many parents and guardian of children under sixteen years of age, the Chief of Police and members of the Recreation Board favored enforcing the Ordinance, but it was thought that the curfew should be sounded at 10:00 o'clock P,M. rather than at 9:00 o'clock P.M. as provided in the present Ordinance, to allow the youngsters to attend the first movie from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. After disc1Jssion, it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commiss ioner Landoe that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare an amendment to the present Or- dinance changlng the curfew time one hour and hRving the Ordinance as amended read from 10:00 o'clock P.M. to 4:00 o'clock A.M., in place of from 9:00 o'clock P.Y. to 4:00 o'clock A.M. as at present, and the motion was carried" by the following Aye and No voto; those voting Aye being Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Landoe; those votinG No, none. Reports The folloWing reports for the month of March, 1943 were presented and read: Employment Officer Helath Officer Director of Finance It was moved by Commissioner Landoe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the re- ports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following .iye and No vote; those voting Aye being Comn1iss loner Sorenson and Commissi oner Landoe; those voting No, none. Uniform Care for Cemetery Mr. Harry Beimstroh representing the local l,!asonlc Lodge # 6, appeared before the Commission and a general discussion was had concernine- the possibility of uniform care for all lots in the Sunset Hills Cemetery. The City Manager stated that the entire matter is now be:i.ng considered by the Cemetery Board, and it was further explained that it wi 11 take ~everal weeks to work out a satisfactory solution to the problem and Mr. Beimstroh supgested that the Masonic Lodpe # 6 be billed for the spring clean-up and care of the old Masonic Tract in a manner similar to that used for servicing the I.O.O.F. Tract prior to Memorial Day, and prompt action would be taken upon the bill. A report showing the number of lots serviced and receipts and labor costs for the work was also presented and read, and the Manager explained that sevoral special meetinfs had been recently held by the Cemetery Board for the consideration of these reports in connection wi th the uniform care problem and tha t one of these m8et:ings had been attended by committees from Masonic Lodge # 6 and the I.O.O.F. Lodge. All present had promised l(j to co-operate in every way possible. Resolution -- Leaves of Abflence A resolution prepared by the City Attorney p:ranting leaves of absence to employees of The City of Bozeman who have joined the armed forces was read.
