City Attorney Aitken stated that Section 5414 R. C. M. 1935, makes no provision for
writing in names at the Primary Election, and further that no names shall be placed upon
the general ballot except of those 6andldates nominated at a primary election. Mr. Aitken
explained that four cancHdates are to be nom:1.nated, and four persons have filed nominating
petitions, and that only the names of the four candidates who have filed may be printed
or appear on the dfficial ballot at the general election, and that therefore the primary
election would serve no useful or practical purpose, and a consid",rable sum of money can
therefore be saved by not holding a primary election.
