HomeMy WebLinkAbout1943-09-10 58 Bozeman, Montana September 10, 1943 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, September 10th, 1943 at 7:30 o'clock P.M. ThoBe being present were Mayor Busch, Commissioner Landoe, Commissioner Sorenson, City Attorney Aitken, City ~~pager Quinnell, City Engineer Thorpe, Director of Finance Walter Davis and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had to-wi t: The minutes of the last re~11ar session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Landoe that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Busch, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Landoe; those voting No, none. I~surance -- Liability Insurance The Manager stated this was the time and place set for the opening of bids for liability insurance on the City fleet for one year from September 22, 1943 to September 22, 1944. He presented and read the affidavit of publication of the Notice to bidders, whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Landoe, seconded by Connniss1oner Sorenson that the bids be opened and read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Busch, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Landoe; those voting No, none. The following bids were tilen opened and read: Bozeman Insurance Association Truck Insurance Exchange $ 215.50 224.00 It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Landoe that the bid of the Bozeman Insurance Associa tion be accepted and the motion was carried by the fol- lowing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Busch, Commissioner Sorenson and Commis sioner Landoe; tho sa vo ting No, none. Application for City License The app11cation of the Bozeman Sheet Metal Works for a one-half year City License was presented and read. It was moved by Commissioner Landoe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson .that the application be approved and the license issued and the motion wAs carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye be ing Mayor Busch, Commis- sioner Sorenson and Commissioner Landoe; those voting No, none. Reports The following reports for the month of August were presented and read: Cemetery Board Health Officer City Engineer Director of Finance City Employment Offioer It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Landoe that the reports be acoepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Busch, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Landoe; those voting No, none. Parks -- Lights for tennis Courts Mr. Joe Livers and Ed DeLauriet appeared before the Commission and asked to have the lights oonnected at the South Side tennis courts. They were informed that the City could not get ooin boxes to replace those taken from the poles but that those who wanted to play tennis oould make arrangements to pay for the current used; tha t the lighta would be turned on and the control awi tch looked until such time as the repairs conld be made to the coin boxes. Mr. Livers stated he would guarantee the light bill provided that the I- I 1 -I I 1 59 City furnish a key to the control switch. Armory -- Request for Use The Manager read an offer from Mr. Chastain of Helena, of $150.00 per month beginning on or about October 10th, for use of the Armory Drill Hall five nights a week for about two and one-half months in which to hold Hasssnpf1ug-Chastain Bible Lectures of an educa- tional and religious ns ture. The ms. tter was carefully considered by the Commies ion and it was finally decided that as the lectures were probably not of general public interest, it would be inadvisable to tie up the drill hall for so long s time at the rate offered, which is considerably less than the oharge established by resolution, and the offer should therefore be declined. Repor t The Manager read the report of Carl Hollenateiner on the SWimming Pool activities for the summer and also his recommendations for improvements during the next season. Leave.of Absence The Manager was granted a two weeks vacation with pay to be taken at his discretion if and when his absence from the City can best be spared. Ad.1 ournmen t There being no further business to oome before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Landoe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the meeting adjourn, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Busch, Commissioner Landoe and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none.
