October 8th, 1943
The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Friday evening, October 8th, 1943, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being
present were Mayor Busch, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Landoe, City Attorney Aitken,
City Manager Quinnell, Director of Finance Walter Davis, and the Clerk, when the following
proceedings were had to-wit:
The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner
Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Landoe that the minutes be approved as read, and the
motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Busoh,
Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Landoe; those voting No, none.
Request for Use of Drill Hall
Mr. Joe Hansford, Elwood Railey and R. H. Brookie, of the Junior Chamber of Commeroe,
appeared before the CommisRion to request the use of the Drill Hall for their annual
Children's Holloween Party, October 31st, if the weather does not permit holding the
party in Baal Park.
They were informed that the Drill Hall had been leased for that night but City Of-
ficials would co-operate to see if arrangements can be made to use the Drill Hall, if
necessary, for the Jaycees Party, October 31st, 1943.

The following reports for the month of September were presented and read:

It was moved by Commissioner Landoe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the
reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye
and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Busch, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner
Landoe; those voting No, none.

Release of ~aster Plumber's Bond
The Manager presented and read the request of the Firemen's Fund Indemnity Company
for the release of the Gas Fitter's and Master Plumber's Bond of H. B. MoCay, as Mr. Mc
Bond
Cay is no longer engaged in this business.
It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Landoe that the bond
be released as of the date that the McCay plumbing and heating business was discontinued
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being
Mayor Busch, Commis&oner Sorenson and Commissioner Landoe; those voting No, none.
Payment of Unpaid Special Improvements
The Manager presented and read the following list of unpaid Special Improvement

It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Landoe that the
unpaid special assessments be paid in full to avoid further interest payments and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye be1ng Mayor Busch,
Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Landoe,; those voting No, none.
Examination of Depository Securities
The Direotor of Finance presented copies of the Custodian's Receipts of the Deposi-

tory bonds held as securities for City funds in the various banks. After checking the
list with the Custodian's Receipts, it was moved by Commissioner Landoe, seconded by Corny
missioner Sorenson that the list be approved and incorporated in the minutes & the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Busch, Commis-
sioner Landoe and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none.

This is to certify that we, the Commi~sion of The City of Bozeman, in compliance with
the provisions of Section 4767, Politieal Code, R.C~M., 1921 as amended by Chapter 49, Laws
of 1929, and asamended by Chapter 23, Extraordinary Session Law of 1933-34, have this day
examined the receipts of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis for the Depository Bonds
held 'by the Director of Finance as above listed as security for the deposits of City Funds
held by the several banks of Bozeman and find them to be as above stated.

Resolution No. 533 -- Weed Assessment
The Manager s ta ted this was the time and place set for public hearing on the resolution
levying the assessment for cutting weeds for 1943. He presented and read the affidavit of
publication of the Notice, and Resolution No. 533, entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, LEVYING AND ASSESSING A
SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON CERTAIN PROPERTIES IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
COUNTY OF GALLATIN, STATE OF MONTANA, TO DEFRAY THE COST OF EXTERMINATION AND
REMOVAL OF NOXIOUS WEEDS FOR THE YEAR 1943 PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ORDI-
NANCE NO. 428, ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE DEFINING AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUNISH-
MENT AND ABATEMENT OF CERTAIN NUISANCES."
As there were no protests filed and no one present to protest, it was moved by Com-
missioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lendoe that the resolution be finally passed
and adopted and the motion was carried by the following nye and No vote; those voting

Resolution No. 534 -- Garbage Assessment
The Manager stated this was the time and place set for public hearing on the Resolu-

read with Resolution No. 534, entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE: COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA LEVYING AND
ASSESSMING A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON ALL REAL PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF
BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLA TIN, STATE OF MONTANA, SERVICED AND FROM WHICH GARBAGE
WAS COLLECTED AND REMOVED DURING THE YEAR 1943 TO DEFRAY THE COST AND EXPENSE
OF COLLECTING AND DISPOSING OF GARBAGE UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE NO.
696 OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN
It was moved byCommlssioner Landoe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the Reso-
lution be finally passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and
No votej those voting Aye being Mayor Busch, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Landoej
those voting No, none.
Nursery School
The Manager presented and read detailed cost estimates for operation of Chnd Care
Project 24-M-5 during the next six months period beginning November 1, 1943, amounting
to $7,110.00. He stated the estimates had been prepared for submission to the Federal
Works Agency and that an application for a Federal contribution of $2,920.00 to cover the
government's share of the said cost had also been prepared.
After examination of the estimate;s which were presented, the Mayor signed the appli-
cation for The City of Bozeman.
