The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Ci~ Hall
Building, Wednesday afternoon, September 20, 1950 at 1;00 o'clock F. M. Those being present were Mayor
Lowe, Commissioner Secor, Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the
Cle rk when the following proceedings were had:
The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded
by Commissioner Secor, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those
voting No, none.
Hearing Sprinkling Assessment - Resolution No. 683
The Manager stated this was the time and place set for the public hearing on the assessment for
street sprinkling for the year 1950. He presented the affidavit of publication of the Notice, and
stated that no protests have been filed, and no one is present to protest. He presented Resolution No.
683, entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN LEVYING AND ASSESSING A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT
OF TAXES UPON .ALL THE PROFERTY IN STREET SPRINKLING DISTRICTS OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUN'IY OF
GALLATIN, STATE OF MONTANA, TO DEFRAY SEVENTY-FIVE PERCENT OF THE COST OF SPRINKLING STREETS
WITHIN SAID STREET SFRINKLING DISTRICTS OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN FOR 'mE YEAR 1950.
It was moved by Commissioner Secor. seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the resolution be finally
passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Hearing Farking Maintenance Assessment - Resolution No. 684
The Manager stated this WaS the time and place set for the public hearing on the assessment for
parking maintenance for the year 1950. He presented the affidavit of publication of the Notice~ and
stated that no protests have been filed, and no one is present to protest. He presented Resolution No.

Hearing Lighting Assessment - Resolution No. 685
The Manager stated this was the time and place set for the public hearing on the assessment for
lighting maintenance for the year 1950. He presented the affidavit o~ publication o~ the Notice, and
stated that no one was present to protest, and no protests have been filed. He presented Resolution No.
685, entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, LEVYING AND ASSESSING LIGHTING
DISTRICT MAINTENANCE AND ELECTRICAL CURRENT cosrs FOR SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT LIGHTING DISTRICTS
NUMBERS 361, 284, 288, 289, 290, 295 AND 300 OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, PURSUANT TO THE FHQVISIONS
OF SECTIONS 5266R.C.M., 1935.
It was moved by Commissioner Secor, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the resolution be finally
passed and adopted, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Claims -. Lovell Clay Products Co. & Marshall-Wells Co.
Claim No. 9506 of the Lovell Clay Products Company in the amount of $621.09 for sewer pipe and
fittings and Claim No. 9507 of Marshall-Wells Co. in the amount of $320.46 for materials for the Water
Department were presented. These claims being subject to a 2% discount if paid within ten days, having
been approved by the Ci~ Manager, and the Ci~ Commission having examined them, it was moved by

Commissioner Secor, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that they be approved and warrants drawn for their
payment, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe,
Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Audit of Airport Boards
The annual audit of the Gallatin Field Board, and the Gallatin Airport Board was presented for
examination by the City Commission.
Liability Insurance Folicy on City Vehicles
A renewal insurance policy with the Truck Insuranoe Exchange to cover all city vehicles for public
liability with $5,000.00/$10,000.00 limits and property damage with $6,000.00 limit was presented.
The policy was approved as to form by the City Atto~ney, whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner
Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor, that the policy be approved and accepted and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and
Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
The amount of liability insuranoe to be oarried by the City was discussed, and the City Manager
was instruoted to get information on a larger ronount of liability insuranoe.
Continuation Certificate of Montana Air Conditioning
The continuation certificate of the Montana Air Conditioning for a Gas Fitter's bond in the amount
of $2,000.00, and a Plumber's bond in the amount of '500.00 was presented. The certificates were
aPl"roved as to form by the City Attorney, whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Secor, seconded by
Commissioner Healy, that the certificates be accepted and approved, and the motion was carried by the
following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Seoor and Commissioner
Healy; those voting No, none.
Reports
The r~ort of the Recreation Director for the month of August, 1950 and a report oovering
reoreational activities for the summer months was presented. It was moved by Conmissioner Healy, seoonded
by Commissioner Secor, that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the
following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy;
those voting No, none.
Fire Frotection for Montana Flour Mills
Fire protection by the City for the Montana Flour Mills was disoussed, and a form of agreement for
suoh proteetiQn was presented and read. After oonsideration, the Commission stated they do not favor
entering into an agreement for fire protection for separate firms, but would look with favor on an
agreement for a regularly established fire district.
Deferments from Aotive Duty for City Employees
Bennie Davis of the Folice Department having been called to active duty, the matter of requests
for deferment from the armed services of city employees was disoussed. It was deoided that requests for
deferment should be handled for each individual case as it oomes up, and it was further deoided that a
request for deferment be made for Bennie Davis.
Report of League Meeting
The Manager reported to the Commission on the meeting of the Executive Commdttee of the Montana
Municipal League and the Mayor's Association whioh he attended in Great Falls.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by
Commissioner Healy, seoonded by Commissioner Secor, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and
