HomeMy WebLinkAbout1950-11-15 460 Bozeman, Montana November 15, 1950 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in tile Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, November 15, 1950 at 1:00 o'clock f. M. Those being present were Mayor Lowe, Corrunissioner Secor, Co~~issioner Healy, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk when the following proceedinGs were had: The minutes of the last reEular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote: tilose voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Request f'orWater Connection -- Willard Harper A written request for a water service to serve the dwelling on the property of Willard Harper, near the south reservoir, was presented and read. It is the general !-,olicy of the city not to furnish water service to proFerty outside the city limits, but since the rne..in supply line of the city from the south reservoir crosses this property, the request was given s!-,ecial consideration. It was moved by Commissioner Secor, seconded by Cormnissioner Healy, that because of the right-of- way easement r-ermi tting the city water main to cross this property, permission be granted to Willard Harper to connect to the city water line on the following conditions: 1. That the connection be mnde a.t Harper's expense and under the su:r,;,ervision of the Ci ty Water Department, 2. That the water for this service be limited to normal household use, 3. That the service be metered, and the charge be the current rate established for water users within the city, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting; Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Corrunissioner Healy; those voting No, none. ReIorts The following reports were presented: Fi.ecreahon Director for the month of October, 1950 Cemetery Board for the months of Sertember and October, 1960. License F~e for Beer & Liquor The license fee i or beer and liquor was discussed, and the City Attorney was instructed to prepare the necessary ordinance to raise the license fee in BOl'E~man to meet the license as allowed by the Monta.na Statute. Foliey on Blocking City Streets for Coasting The question of blockin['; off a street to I~rovide a coasting hill for children wes discussed. Tl.is is e. question which ,",rises each year wi th the first snow fnll. The Ci.ty does }..rovide a coastinE hill in Lindley Fe-rk and, in spite of the fect that Sixth Avenue has been blocked off for coasting in other years ~ it is considered that the risks involved, both for injury to children and for darnaEe sui ts eEa inst the City, do not warrant blockint: off any street for such purposes. The City Manager was instructed that the policy of this City, as recommended by tbe Recreation Boerd end aF'Froved by the Ci ty Conanission, is thet no streets will be blocked off or closed to traffic to l;rovide coasting hills. LordinG & Unloading Zone -- 223 East Main A request from F'rank J. Trunk is constructing an addition to his rresent building; in the rear of the T,roFerty. and it is not possible to load and uxl10ad here durir.g the construction period. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor, that the City Meneger be authorized to establish a loading and unloading zone in the front of the buildinf; at 223 East Mair) for a 60-day period and the motion was carried by the followin('; Aye and No vote: those votins Aye beir.~~ May or Lowe, Commiss ioner Secor and Commissi oner H,)a ly; those votin[; No. none. Claims Cleim No. 9979 of Marshall-Wells Company in the amount of $701.56 And Claim No. 9980 of Nu-tone Products Comp:my in the amount of $36.00 were fresented. !rhe claims are sulJject to a 1% discount if paid within ten days. After examination of the claims by the City Commission, it was moved by Commissioner Secor, seconded by Cotmnissioner Healy, that the cIa ims be apI-roved and warrunts dra,'fm for their I-ayment and the motion was carried by the following~ Aye and No vote: those voting Aye beint:; Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those votinr~ No, none.
