HomeMy WebLinkAbout1950-12-20 46B Bozeman, Montana December 20, 1950 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, December 20, 1950 at 1:00 o'clook f. M. Those being present were Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor, Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk when the following proceedings were had: 1 The minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Seoor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. fublic Heading - Extending City Limits to Include Langohr's First Addition The Manager stated this was the time and plaoe set for the public hearing on proposal to extend the city limits to include a tract of land to be known as the Langohr's First Addition. He presented the affidavit of publication of the Notioe of Hearing and the Clerk's Mailing Certifioate that all property owners have been notified, and stated that no protests have been filed and no one is present to protest. Don M. Langohr, Jr. was present to support the proposal. Resolution No. 701 extending the city limits to inolude said Lengohr's First Addition was presented, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF' THE COMMISSION.OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN EXTENDING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE SAID CITY OF BOZEMAN SO .AS TO EMBRACE AND INCLUDE A TRACT OF LAND CONTIGUOUS TO THE SAID CITY OF BOZEMAN AND HEREIN MORE FARTICULARLY DESCRIBED WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS THEREOF. It was moved by Coramissioner Secor, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the resolution be passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. I Mayor to Frotest Northwest Airlines Proposal The matter of the NOrthwest Airlines having filed a petition with the Civil Aeronautics Board for authority to disoontinue stops at Gallatin F'ield was discussed. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor, that Mayor Lowe file a written protest with the Civil Aeronautios Board. and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Appointment of City Engineer City Manager Henderson announced the appointment of S. D. Waldorf as City Engineer and stated he would assume his duties on or about January 8th, 1951. It was moved by Commissioner Secor, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the appointment be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Co~~issioner Healy; those voting No, none. Fetition for Lighting District on South Eighth A petition signed by owners of approximately 36% of the property to be affected, requesting that a Special Lighting District be created for the purpose and to provide the funds necessary to install special ornamental street lighting on South Eighth Avenue from Main Street to Harrison Street, was 1 presented. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor, that specifications and estimates be prepared and based on these estimates, the City Attorney be instructed to prepare a resolution of intention to create the distriot, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Claims Claims Nos. 117 and 118 were presented on the various funds as follows: 470 Gene ral Fund Fire Relief $2,551.24 678.65 The Manager stated these were true and lawful claims against the City of Bozeman and recommended that warrants be drawn for their payment. After examination of the claims in detail by the City Commission, it was moved by Commissioner Secor, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the claims be approved and warrants drawn for their payment and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No none. Representatives Informed of Froposed City Legislation Senator Lehrkind and Representatives Dokken, Westlake and Sales, were present to discuss with the City Commission proposed legislation affecting municipalities which will be brought up at the forthcoming session of the State Legislature. Furchase of Water in Middle Creek A communication was read from the Water Conservation BOard stating that 1050 acre feet of water is available in the Middle Creek Project for purchase by The City of Bozeman. The Communication was referred to the City Attorney. Coasting for Child ren A letter was read from the Emerson FTA urging that two blocks on South Fifth or South Sixth Avenue be barricaded for coasting. The City Manager was instructed to reply to the letter stating the City's position in the matter. Appointment of Civilian Defense Advisory Board Mayor Lowe announced the appointment of the following members to the Civilian Defense Advisory Board: John Mason Heber Porter David DeLap A. J. M. Johnson L. K. Pence It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor, that the appointments be approved and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Seoor, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Secor and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
