The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday afternoon, March 22, 1950 at 1;00 o'clook P. M. Those being present were Mayor
Lowe, Commissioner Healy, Commissioner Seoor, City Manater Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace, and the
Clerk when the following proceedings were had:
'!he minutes of the last regular session held :Maroh 15, 1950 were read, and it was moved by
Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor, that the minutes be approved as read, and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner
Healy and Commissioner Secor; those voting No, none.
fetition re: Condition of Story Street & 5th Ave., in S. I. D. 356
A petition of owners of property on 'West Story Street from Third Avenue to Sixth Avenue and on
South Fifth Avenue from Kooh to Story Street was presented and read. This petition protests against
the quality of gravel base material which has been used in this project and requests that when the
contraotor resumes work on this portion of Special Improvement District No. 355, the job be carried
to completion within a reasonable time, and that every effort be made to see that, when the district
is oompleted, the results are commensurate with the costs.
The Mana.ger explained that the project has not been completed and that cHy officials are doing
everything possible to see that the pavement on these and other streets will be completed in a
satisfactory manner.
Applications for City Licenses
The following applications for City Licenses were presented:
Beer & Liquor: Elks Club
Slot Machine: Elks Club, Burger Club, Americen Legion
It was moved by Commissioner Seoor, seconded by Connnissioner Healy, that the applioations be
approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Connnissioner Healy and Commissioner Secor; those voting No, none.
Permission to Show VFW War Exhibit
A oOlTuTlunication was read from the VFW' office in Washington, D. C. asking permission to display a
Mobile War Exhibit in Bozeman in the near future. They stated that no charge is made, but donations
are accepted. After consideration, it was moved by Commissioner Secor, seoonded by Commissioner Healy,
ths.t permission be granted to display this exhibit, provided it is shown on private property, and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting .Aye being Mayor Lowe, Conunissioner
Healy and Commissioner Secor; those voting No. none.
VFW Foppy Day
The Manager stated that verbal request has been received from the looal post of the Vl'W for
permission to hold their annual Poppy Day tag sale on the Saturday before Memorial day. No action
was taken pending arrangements being made between the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion
as each of these organizations hold a Poppy Day sale at approximately the same time and it 18 necessary
to see that their dates do not conflict.
Communication rez Objeotion to Using Playgrounds Sunday Mornings
A communication was read from Rev. L. J. Onstad requesting that the City discourage the use of
publio tax-supported reoreational facilities for a youth program on Sunday mornings. The Manager was
instructed to write to Mr. Onstad to explain that tile city does not sponsor recreation aotivities on
Sunday mornings but that the oi ty parks are open at all times for public use.

Manager to go to Harlowton at White Sulphur Springs
Ci ty Manager Henderson requested that, in the interests of the Montana Municipe.l League, he be
given authority to go to Harlowton and White Sulphur Springs within the next week.
It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seoonded by Commissioner Secor, that the City Manager be
authorized to make this trip and his expenses be paid from the General Fund and the motion was

carried by the following Aye end No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Healy
and Commissioner Secor; those voting No, none.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Conunission at this time, it was moved by
Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was
and Commissioner Secor; those voting No, none.
