HomeMy WebLinkAbout1950-04-19 Bozeman, Montana April 19, 1950 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, April 19, 1950 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Those being present were Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Healy, Commissioner Secor, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace, and the Clerk when the following proceedings were had: 1 The minutes of the last regular session held April 12, 1950 were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Secor, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried ~ the f~llowing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Secor; those voting No, none. Claim for Sewer Fipe Claim No. 8336 of the Lovell Clay Products Company for sewer pipe in the amount of $34.40 was presented and examined. The Manager stated the claim was subject to a 2% discount if paid within ten days, whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor, that the claim be apfroved and a warrant drawn for its payment and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Conwissioner Healy and Commissioner Seoor; those voting No, none. Reports The following reports for the month of March, 1950 were presented: Building Inspector Plumbing Inspector Snow Survey It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor, that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being I Mayor Lowe, Corr@issioner Healy and Con~issioner Secor; those voting No, none. Delegate to Library Meeting The Montana State Library Association will hold its annual meeting in Great Falls on May 1st and 2nd, 1950. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Corr~issioner Secor, that, it being in the public interest, Mrs. Nedra Waite, Acting; Librarian, be authorized to attend this meeting and her eXf'enses be paid from the Library Fund, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Secor; those voting No, none. Appointment to Police Commission City Manager Henderson announced the re-appointment of Don Cobb as a member of the Police CommiSSion, term to expire May 1, 1953. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor, that the appointment be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those votin[ Aye being Mayor Lowe, Conunissioner Healy and Commissioner Secor; those voting No, none. Resolution No. 674 -- Intention to Create S. I. D. No. 361 The City Attorney, as instructed, has prepared a Resolution of Intention to Create Special Improvement District No. 361, ornamental lighting to replace Lighting District No. 100, on Main Street from Broadway to Fourth Avenue. He presented Resolution No. 674, entitled: 1 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF' BOZEMAN, MONTANA, DECLARING IT TO BE THE INTENTION OF' SAID COMMISSION TO CREATE SPECIAL IMFROVEMEN'T LIGHTING DISTRICT NO. 361 FOR THE FURfOSE OF INSTALLING AND MAINTAINING A LIGHTING SYSTEM TO LIGHT MAIN STREET EAST .AND WEST, FROM NORTH BROADWAY AVENUE TO THE LINE OF FOURTH AVENUE PROJECTED. THE SAME BEING THE AREA NOW INCLUDED IN SPECI.AL LIGHTING DISTRICT NO. 100 OF THE CI TY OF BOZEMAN: DESCRIB- ING THE BOUNDARIES OF' SAID DISTRICT; THE GENERAL CHARACTER OF THE IMFRQVEMENT TO BE MADE; SETTING :FURTH ESTIMATED COSTS OF CONSTRtx::TION AND COST OF MAINTAIN ING SUCH LIGHTS AND SUP- PLYING ELECTRICAL CURRENT THEREFOR FOR THE FIRST YEAR; AND DETERMIN ING THAT ONE-HALF OF' THE COST OF' INSTALLATION AND ONE-HALF' OF THE .ANNUAL COST OF MAINTmANCE SHALL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FROPERTY WITHIN THE DISTRICT AND THAT O:NE-HALF' O:F THE COST OF INSTALLATION AND ONE-HALF Ol" THE COST OF ANNUAL MAINTENANCE OF THE SYSTEM SHALl., BE PAID FOR OUT OF THE GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, ALL UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF AND IN CONFORMITY WITH SECTIONS 11-2245 to 11-2257 INCLUSIVE, OF THE REVISED CODES OF MONTANA, 1947. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Secor, that the Resolution be passed :375 376 and adopted and May lOth, 1950 be set as the da,y for the hearing of protests, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Comndssioner Healy and Commissioner Secor; those voting No, none. Resolution No. 675 -- Intention to Create S. I. D. 362 1'he City Attorney, as instructed, has prepared a Resolution of Intention to oreate Special Improve.. ment District No. 362, to purchase the ornamental lighting standards from Fourth Avenue to Eighth Avenue on Main Street. He presented Resolution No. 675, entitled: ARESOL1JTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, DECLARnlG IT TO BE THE INTEN- TION OF' SAID COMMISSION TO CREATE SPECIAL IMFROVEMENT LIGHTING DISTRICT NO. 362 FOR THE FUR- JOSE OF PURCHASING AND MAINTAINING A LIGHTING SYSTEM TO LIGHT MAIN STREET FROM THE WEST LINE OF' FOURTH AVENUE PROJECTED TO THE WEST LINE OF TH:~; rnTERSECTJON OF WEST MAIN STREET AND SorTH EIGHTH AVENUE; DESCRIBING THE BOUNDARIES OF SAID DISTRICT; THE GENERAL CHARACTER OF THE IMPROVE- MENT 'ID BE MADE; SETTING FORTH ESTIMATED COSTS 01" PURCHASING AND COST OF MAINTAINING SUCH LIGHTS AND SUPPLYING ELECTRICAL CURRENT THEREFOR FOR THE FIRST YEAR: AND DETERMINING THAT ONE-HALF' OF THE COST OF' PURCHASING SAID LIGHTS AND ONE-HALF OF THE ANNUAL COST OF MAINTENANCE SHALl BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE PROP~'RTY WITHIN THE DISTRICT AND THAT ONE-HALF OF THE COST OF' PURCHASING SAID LIGHTS .AND ONE-HALF OF THE COST OF ANNUAL MAINTENANCE OF' 'l'HE SYSTEM SHALL BE :i'AID FOR OUT OF THE GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF' BOZEMAN. Cl ean- Up Week It was announced that Clean-Up Week has been set for the first week in May, 1950, and that City trucks will help in this program as in other years.
