HomeMy WebLinkAbout1950-05-03 Bozeman, Montana May 3, 1950 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, May 3, 1950 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Those being present were Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelece. and the Clerk when the following proceedings were had: I The minutes of the last regular session held April 26, 1950 were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Mayor Lowe, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those votin{i Aye being; Mayor Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. License Fee for Carnival Dr. R. C. Ritter, President of the Junior Chamber of Commeroe. was present relative to his request that the Junior Chamber of Commerce be allowed a reduction in license fee for a carnival which they propose to sponsor in June. The Commission informed him that the matter had been investi- gated and considered and their decision is that no reduction can be made from the normal license of $100.00 per day. Ornamental Lights for Street Lighting Mr. R. J. Hostetter aI-peared before the Commission and asked permission to demonstrate a fluorescent type of street light for the organization that he represented. The Commission advised him that they would be glad to see the lights demonstrated, but that it is very improbable that they oould be used in the pro}!osed new lighting; districts on Main Street. Mr. Hostetter stated that, at the time the truck demonstrating these lights is in town, a demonstration would be made. I Proposed Flatting of Northwest Corner Mr. R. D. Houser and O. Berg were present and presented a sketch of a proposed platting; of the twenty aores in the northwest corner of the city. After discussion and study of the proposed pIa. t, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Mayor Lowe, that a plat presented in accordanoe with the proposed sketch will be approved by the City Commission, and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Flatting of Beatty's Sub-Division The Manager presented a pla.t of Beatty's Sub-Division southwest of the City. He stated that unless there were objections. he will aFprove the plat as Director of FublicWel fare. Claims for the Month Claims Nos. 8337 to 8542 inclusive were presented on Jarking Meter $ Band Cemetery Cemetery Suspense Garbage General Library pa.rk P. L. & P. Police Reserve SDS Revenue S. I. D. W-H Tax Water the various 915.05 12.00 1,212.46 38.00 1,489.43 12,718.09 1.128.01 1,324.17 12,000.00 86.15 1,342.09 4.812.31 948.00 4,789.53 funds as follows: 1 Total $42.815.29 The Manager sta.ted that he has audited these olaims, and finds them to be true and lawful claims against the City of' Bozeman and reconnnends that warrant~ be drawn for their payment. After examination of the claims in detail by the City Cormnission, it was moved by Corrunissioner Healy, seconded by Mayor Lowe, that the claims be a.llowed and warrants drawn for their fayment and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye beinG Ma.yor Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No. none. 879 380 Reports The following reports for the month of April, 1950 were presented: Librarian Fire Chief Sani tary Inspector Recreation Director Cashier Police Judge It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Mayor Lowe, that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe and Cornmissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Improvements on Ball Park The Manager stated that at a meeting of representatives of the American Legion, the Softball Association, the Recreation Board, and the Health Department, it was conoluded that new toilet facili- ties should be installed at the ball park, and the ball diamond raised to a mound in the oenter by the addi ton of sand and clay. The City Manager recommended that the City expend an amount equal, to apr;rox- imately $500.00 to help the Legion and the Softball Association with these improvements. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Mayor Lowe, the. t the City Manager be authorized to expend approximately $500.00 for needed improvements at the baseball park, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Purchase of' Garden Type Tractor The Manager stated that a small garden type tractor for cultivating and mowing could be used jointly by the Park Department and at the Sewage Treatment Plant, and recommended the purchase of such a tractor. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Mayor Lowe, that the City Manager be authorized to purchase a garden type tractor for the Sewage Treatment Plant and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Mayor Lowe, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
