HomeMy WebLinkAbout1950-05-24 38R Bozeman, Montana May 24, 1950 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, May 24, 1950 at 1100 o'clock P. M. Those being present were Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Healy. Commissioner Secor, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace, and the Clerk when the rollowing proceedings were had. The minutes of the last regular session held May 17. 1960 were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Seoor, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe. Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Secor; those voting No. none. Trailer Camp on North 7th Avenue Mr. Paul Jones, 818 North Seventh Avenue, appeared before the Commission with a sketch showing the location of a trailer camp with laundry and toilet facilities which he proposes to build on his property. After examine.tion and discussion of the proposed camp. the plan was tentatively approved subject to Mr. Jones complying with Ordinanoe No. 676 regulating trailer canps within the City. Reports The following reports were presented: City Engineer for the month of April, 1950 Director of Finance for the month of April, 1950 Water Collector for the month of May, 1950. It was moved by Commissioner Secor, seconded by Commissioner Healy. that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe. Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Secor; those voting No, none. Lights for Main Street R. J. Hostetter, E. Main Street., was present regarding the tlouresoent street lighting fixtures which he is demonstrating in front of his place of business. Mr. Hostetter was informed the Commission does not favor including this type of light in the specifications for the lighting distr~ct on Main Stree~as not enough information regarding this type of lighting is available at this time. \ i Awnings on Vain Street A list of properties on Main Street which have awnings over the sidewalk was presented showing the height above the sidewalk of the bar supporting eaoh awning. In several instanoes awnings are con.siderably lower than the required seven and one-half feet minimum. required by the Building Code. After discussion. the City Manager was instructed to notify these owners that their awnings must be made to comply with the Building Code. Purchase of Gravel The Manager recommended the purchase of 600 cubic yards of crushed gravel suitable tor street patch- ing. He stated that suitable gravel of good grade can be purchased from the Gallatin Sand & Gravel Company at '1.30 per cu. yd., F. o. B. their ourshtng plant near Belgrade. It was moved by Commissioner Secor, seoonded by Commissioner Healy, that the City Manager be authorized to purchase approximately 600 oubic yards of gravel for patching, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Secor; those voting No, none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time. it was moved by Commissioner Healy. seconded by Commissioner Secor, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was 1 I 1 1 I 1 carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting ~e being Mayor Lowe, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Secor; those voting No, none.
