The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building;, Wednesday afternoon, July 20th, 1949 at 1:00 o'clock f. M. l'hose being present were Mayor
Sorenson. Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson. City Attorney Lovelace and
the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had:
I The minutes of' the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded
by Commissioner Healy, the t the minutes be approved as read. and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Conunissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those
voting No, none.
Applications for City Licenses
The following applications for City Licenses were fresented:
Businesst Meeker Shows C. J. Oberline
Slot Machinet Gridiron Club (One additional machine)
Beer: Bozeman Jr. Chamber of Commerce lark Coca-Cola Bottling Co.
It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the applications be apFroved
and the licenses iSsued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those votinc No, none.
Application of C. Keeland for City License
The 8fPUcs.tion of' C. Keeland for a city license to operate a lunch wagon at the corner of Gre.nd
Avenue and Tammarack Street was presented. It was pointed out that the application is f'or three days,
July 22nd, 23rd. and 24th. 1949. during the Jaycee Annual Rodeo. that the location is in the "D" Residence
I District and locating at an entrance to the Rodeo Grounds might cause a traf'f'ic hazard, and af'ter considera-
tiOI:, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the 8f.' plication be denied
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being; Mayor Sorenson.

Furchase of Iortable Electric Welder
The City .lIIJ.8.nag;er rerorted that it is possible to purchase a factory reconditioned portable welder
that would be suited f'or the use of the Water Department, and the cost without accessories would not
exceed ~1,OOO.OO. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Corrmissioner Healy, that the City
Manager be authorized to f,urchase a recandi tioned electric welder. if' available, not to exceed $985.00.
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson.

Bids f'or Loader
The Manager recommended, that in orcier to be assured of delivery on a loader f'or the winter season.
it would be advisable to advertise for bids in the near future for delivery ne~r tile end of' the year.
It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy. that the City Manager be authorized
to advertise for bids f'or a snow and dirt loader, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No

Continuation Carti f'icate -- Oliver-Stout Ha.rdware Co.
The continuation certificate of the Oliver-Stout Hardware Company's Gas Fitter's Dond in the amount
of' $2,000.00 was presented. The certificate was approved as to form by the City Attorney, whereupon, it
was moved by Commissioner Healy. seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the certificate be accepted and
approved and the motion was carried by the following: Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Ma;:lor
Sorenson, Cow~issioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting; No, none.

Director of Finance Cemetery Board
It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the reI--orts be accerted
and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. I.
Frsliminary Budget 1949-1950
The City Manager submitted the budget estimates of expenditures and revenues for the various ci t;y
departments f'or the fiscal year ending June 30th, 1950. He stated that this proposed budget would
require a levy of' 31.1 mills. an increase of six-tenths mill over the levy of last year.
Delega te to Fire School at Folson, Montana
The Manager reported that the annual fire school would be held again in Folson, Montana. I twas
moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy. that it being in the public interest that
one member of the Fire Department be authorized to attend this school. and his expenses be Faid f'rom
the General Fund and the motion was carried by the following; Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Sorenson" Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Bids for S. 1. D. 355 & 356
Bids for Special Improvement Districts No. 355 and 356 deferred from the last meeting were given
consideration at this time. After discussion, it wes moved by Conunissioner Lowe. seconded by Conunis-
sioner Healy, that the bid of the Blacktop Construction Company for S. I. D. No. 355, being the low
bid, be accepted subject to the sale of S. 1. D. No. 355 bonds, and the Clerk of the Commission be
authorized to advertise for the sale of these bonds, and the certified check be returned to the unsuc- I
cessful bidder, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Sorenson. Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy. the. t the bid of the Standard
Construction Company f'or S. I. D. No. 356, being the low bid, be accepted subject to the sale of S. I. D.
No. 356 bonds, and the Cl erk of the City Commission be authorized to advertise for the sale of these
bonds, and the certified check be returned to tile unsuccessful bidder and tte mo~ion was carried by the
following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner
Healy} those voting No, none.
