July 27, 1949
The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday afternoon, July 27th, 1949 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Those being present were Mayor
Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the
Clerk, when the following proceedings were had:
I The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded
by Commissioner Lowe, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson. Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those
voting No, none.
Applications for City Lioenses
The following applications tor City Licenses were presented:
Hash Construction Company Watson Bros. Drive Inn
It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the applications be approved
and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Heating Equipment at Swimming Pool in Operation
The Manager reported that the heating equipment was put into operation at the swimming pool on July
22, 1949 but that the installation is not completed. With temporary connections, it is possible to raise
the pool temperature approximately 10 degrees.
Extension of Time for Haggerty-Messmer for Sewage Plant
A letter from Haggerty-Messmer Construction Company, asking for an extension of time until September
I 15th, 1949 for the completion of the construction of the Sewage Treatment Plant, was read. The letter
stated that the construction would be complete within ten days, but the extra time requested would be for
testing and final adjustments and putting all equipment in good working condition. It was moved by
Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the request for the extension of the completion
date until September 15th, 1949 be granted provided Haggerty-Messmer Construction Company continue work-

ing without any unnecessary delay and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No. none.
Sale of Bonds S. I. D. Nos. 350 & 357
The Manager stated this was the time and place set to r the sale of Special Improvement Distriot
Bonds No. 350. He presented the affidavit of publication of the Notice of Sale, whereupon, the Mayor
called for bids in the approximate amount of $6,300.00. The following oral bids were thereupon heard:
Homer T. Dunbar par 6% interest
Cemetery Fermanent Care Fund, par 5.75% interest
Homer T. DWlbar par 5.50% interest
It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seoonded by Commissioner Healy, that the bid of Homer T. Dunbar
be accepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Cornmissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
I The Manager stated this was the time and place set for the sale of Special Improvement District
No. 357 Bonds in the approximate amoWlt of $1,800.00. He presented the affidavit of publication of the
Notice of Sale, whereupon the following oral bids were heard:
F. E. Herrett par 5.5% interest
It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the bid of F. E. Herrett
be accepted and the motion was carried by the f'ollowing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Sorenson, Commissioner LOWe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.

Location of Fence at Sewage Treatment Flant
Mr. Fred Quinnell, Engineer at the Sewage Disposal Plant, was present and discussed the matter of
the location of the fence to be placed around the plant site. He stated that from his surveys and
oalculations the present fence on the east side of the plant site is from six to nine feet in on City
property and to determine the exact location of the property line would necessitate court action and a
thorough survey. He stated further that the present area fenced is ample ground for plant operations, I
and suggested that the new fenoe be placed in the same location as the present fence.
The City Commission stated this would be agreeable, and the City Manager was instructed to inform
the owner to the east, in writing, that the City fenoe was being placed from six to nine feet in on
Ci ty property.
Contract for S. I. D. 356
The Manager presented the contract of the Standard Construction Company for the construction of
Special Improvement District No. 356, paving on Fourth Avenue from Cleveland to Arthur and on Arthur
Street from Fourth Avenue to Fifth Avenue. The oontract was approved as to form by the City Attorney,
~ereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the Mayor and the
Clerk of the City Commission be authorized to sign the contract for the City of Bozeman and the motion
was oarried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner
Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Ordinance No. 751 -- Appropriation Ordinance
The Manager presented the annual appropriation ordinance for the fiscal year ending June 30th,
1960, together with supporting schedules, entitled:
.AN ORDINANCE AFFROfRIATING MONIES FOR EXFENDITURES DEEMED NECESSARY AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH I
BUDGETORY REQUffiEMENTS FOR MAINTENANCE ETC., OF TEE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OF mE CITY OF
BOZEMAN, MONTANA FOR THE FISCAL YEAR aIDING JUNE 30, 1950.
It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the ordinance be pro-
visionally adopted and August lOth, 1949 be set as the date for public hearing and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe
and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by
Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Healy and
Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
