The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Build-
ing, Wednesday afternoon, October 26th, 1949 at 1:00 o'clock P. M. Those being present were Mayor
Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the
Clerk, when the following proceedings were had:
I The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded
by Commissioner Lowe. that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote: tilose voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy, those
voting No, none.
Reward for Police Approved
The Manager stated that a reward of $50.00 from the State of Nevada for the capture of an escaped
convict had been received by the Police Department. The City Manager recommended that the reward be
divided between the policemen responsible for the capture of the convict, whereupon, it was moved by
Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the reward be so divided and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and
Connnissioner Healy, those voting No, none.
Over-all Flan for Storm and Sanitary Sewers
Mr. Fred Quinnell presented and explained a map and over-all plan for future expansion and extension
of storm sewers and sanitary sewers within the City.
Sewer Connection for Water Softening Flant
An agreement prepared by the City Attorney between Duaine Straiton and The City of Bozeman for con-
I nection of the Culligan Soft Water Service to the City's sanitary sewer was presented, covering the points
as discussed at the meeting of the City Commission on October 19th, 1949. It was moved by Commissioner
Healy, seconded qy Commissioner Lowe, that the Mayor and the Clerk of the City Commission be authorized
to sign the agreement for The City of Bozeman, and the motion Was carried by the following Aye and No
vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy, those voting No,
none.
Application for City License
The application of The Bowl for a ci ty license was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Healy,
seconded by Commissioner Lowe. that the application be approved and the license issued and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and
Commissioner Healy, those voting No, none.
ReI-orts
The following reports for the month of September, 1949 were presented:
Cashier Engineer
It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner LOwe, that the reports be approved
and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being

Blocking Main Street for Chamber of Commerce
Mr. Earl Jennings and Hague Callister, of the Bozeman Chamber of Commerce were present to request
that Main Street be blocked off from Willson Avenue to Bozeman Avenue for approximately thirty minutes on
Saturday, November 19th-]949, so that part of Main Street could be then used for the sales promotion
program of their organization. After consideration by the City Commission, it was moved by Commissioner
Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the City of Bozeman co-operate wi th the Chamber of Commerce
by blocking off three blocks on Main Street and furnishing the necessary police officers for traffic

control, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Proposed Museum of Fioneer Society
Mr. Roy Border, representing; the :Fioneer Museum Associati.on, was present and presented a proposed
plan for the construction of a museum in Lindley Fark. After examination of the proposed plan, it was
moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Conunissioner Healy, that the plan as presented be tentatively
approved, subject to their presenting a final plan of the proposed building for approval and a plan for I
the maintenance and operation of the museum, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vo te: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting; ~o,
none.
Rerort on Housing Froject
City Manager Henderson reported to the City Commission on the housing project operating in Anaconda.
No definite action was taken, but it was decided that publicity should be given the matter, and tl~t
landlords and real estate agents should be contacted to l~et their reaction.
Release of Claim -- E & F Produce Company
The Manager reported that a truck of the E. & i'. Produce Company, Salt Lake City, Utah, had
destroyed a light post last September at 8th and Main, and that $150.00. which would cover the cost of
replacement of the light post had been deposited with the City. He presented a release of further
claim as requested by their insurance company. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commis-
s loner Lowe, that the Mayor and the Clerk of the City Commission be authorized to sign the release for
the City of Bozeman, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. I
Uniforms for Firemen
The Manager reported on needs for firemen's uniforms and, from information obtained by the F'ire
Chief, the cost would be less then $500.00. It was moved by Commiss5oner Lowe, seconded by Co~~issioner
Healy, that the City Manager be authorized to purchase two pair of trousers and one cap 1'0 r ea ch fi reman
and two new coats, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those vot5..ng No, nOlle.
Confirmation of Members in the Fire Relief Association
The following letter was brought to the attention of the City Commission:

Section 5129 Revised Codes of Montana, provides that the
Ci ty Commission or Council must confirm members of the Pire Department
or The Fire Department Relief Association of the City before they are
