M. Those being :present were Mayor Sorenson, Commi.ssioner Lowe, Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace, and the acting Cle rk, when the following l'roceedinrs were had: I The mi.nutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Corr~issioner Healy, thnt the minutes be approved as read, and the motion WB.S carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting :No, none. AF-pointment - D. L. Henry, Acting Clerk L. G. Shadoan, Clerk of the Commission, being absent on authorized vacation, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that D. L. Henry be an.ointed ActinL Clerk of the Commission and authorized to rerform all official duties of' the Clerk of the Commission during any authorized absence of the regular Clerk and the motion was carried by the followinc Aye and No vote: those voting Aye beinc MAyor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Eealy; those votinc No, none. Request - Mrs. Lillian Gardner Young Mrs. Lillian Gardner Young was :present and requested the Commission to take action toward reopening the road from the end of Broadway across the N. f. tracks near her F,roperty which had been closed by the petition of property owners in this vicinity some years ago. Mrs. Young was advised to circulate a l,eti tion amonG present owners of :properties affected to show that there was a desire to have this road reopened, and to present it to the Commission at a later date. .1 Temporary Lighting S. 8th Mr. Near, District Manager, and Mr. Murdock, District EnGineer, for Montana Ijower ComFany, were present to discuss the placing of temporary lights on wood poles on S. 8th Avenue as tart of their demonstration lighting plan. 'l'he City Commission had authorized this installation on Af.ril 21, 1948, the Montana :tower Company is now ready to make the installation, and some objection has recently been raised against using wood poles instead of steel poles. Since this is a trial installation, being; made at the expense of the Montana Power Company, Mr. N.gar and Mr. ITurdock were informed that they could make the installation in accordance with the original proposal if they think it Fractical and advisable. Business Fermi t - Wallace Johnson Mr. Wallace Johnson, proprietor of the Snack Shack located at 1202 s. 6th. Application The application of James Scabery for a license to operate Jim's Music l'~art was presented. It was moved by Conunissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the BlplicR.tion be flfproved and the license issued, and the motion was carried by the followinc Aye and No vote: those votinG Aye beinc Mayor Sorenson, Conunissioner Lowe and Corronissioner Healy; those voting Ko, none. 326 Bridges Ci ty ManaCer Henderson reforted on a discussion with the County Commissioners reia ti ve to the widening of Church Street. south of the Milwaukee tracks, and of the two small bridges on this road just south of the city limits. This froject will include removal of a point of the hill which frojects onto Church Street and will require some blastinc. Gallatin County has beGun work on the project and they request that the City cooperate by doing such blasting as is required. The County will do all I other work. This project will remove a particularly dangerous condition on this road and street. The COl:unission aprroved cooperation wi th GallAtin County as they have requested. Meeting Montana Municipal League City Mannger Henderson stated that the Executive Board of' the Montana Municipal LeaGue would meet at Helena on Saturday. November 19th. He requested pennission to attend this meeting. It was moved by Commissioner Healy. seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that. it bein(!; in the public interest. Furchase i'ipe and Fittings Ci ty Manager Henderson presented a list, prerarsd by Water Superintendent Border. of cast iron !-,iI~e and fi ttinr;s recorrunended for purchase to bring inventories of such materials on hand in the Water Department up to required levels. Latest quotation on 4" cast iron pipe, F.O.B. Bozeman. is *,1.26 per foot. It was moved by Corrunissioner Healy. seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the Manager be authorized to purch~lse 500 feet of 4" cast iron pipe at this time, the fittings on the list referred to above to be considered for purchase at a later date, and the motion was carried by the following Aye I and No vote. those votinc Aye beine; Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Cormnissioner Healy; those votinG No. none. Opinion re Election The written opinion of City Attorney Lovelaoe in regard to the election of Mr. Walter A. Secor to the City Commission was rresented. The conclusion reached in the oIinion is that Mr. Secor is lecally qualified to be seated as a City Commissjoner of the City of Bozeman and that the Clerk can and should issue a certificate of election to him. It was moved by Corrunissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that, the Clerk having made the canvass of votes cust at the regular election held on November 8. lf149 and Mr. Secor having received the hie;hest number of votes, that canvass is hereby accepted and 8nroved and the Clerk is hereby instructed to issue a certificate of election to Walter A. Secor and tha motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote. those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Adjournment ... There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy. that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those votinr.:; Aye being; Mayor Sorenson.
