November 30, 1949
The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday afternoon, November 30, 1949 at l:OO otclock f. M. Those being present were Mayor
Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelaoe,
Commissione~Eleot Walter A. Secor, and the Clerk when the following proceedings were had:
I The minutes of the la.st regular session were read, and 1 t was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded
by Commissioner Lowe, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote t those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those
voting No. none.
Petition for Rezoning
Mr. H. B. Landoe, representing owners of property in Blocks 60, 51 and 52 of West Park Addition and
Block 49 Park Addition, appeared before the Commission and presented the following petitional
1. That the South one-half of Blocks 60, 51, 52, of the .West Park Addition be made a part
of the Business-Residence District.
2. That the South one-half of Bloek 49, Park Addition be made a part of the Business-
Residence District.
3. That the special permit granted Mr. F. E. Butler to operate a grocery store at l3l0
South Sixth Avenue. until June 1. 1950 be extended for five years.
It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that these petitions be referred
to the Board of Adjustment, that that Board be requested to hold a public hearing on the requesta and
that aotion on the petitions by the City Commission be deferred pending such publio hearing and receipt
of the recommendation of the Board of Adjustment in the matter, and the motion was carried by the following
~e and No votel those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those
I voting No, none.
Applications for City Licenses
The following applications for City Licenses were presentedl

It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the applications be approved
and the lioenses issued and the motion was carried by the following ~e and No vote: those voting Aye
being Mayor Sorenson. Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Oath of Office and Bond of Walter A. Secor
The oath of offioe of Walter A. Secor as City Commissioner was presented, and the Manager stated
that the bond of Walter A. Secor has been filed with the District Judge and approved as to for.m by the
Distriot Judge and the City Attorney. Whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by
Commissioner Healy, that the bond and oath be accepted and approved and the motion was carried by the
following Aye and No votal those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner
Healy; those voting No. none.
Preliminary Report of' Morrison Engineering Company
The Manager presented copies of a Preliminary Report of the Morrison Engineering Company on their
I survey and over all plans for improvement and expansion of the water supply and distribution system in
this city. These reports were given to the City Commission for their examination, study and recommenda-
ti ons.
Mayor's Conference
The Manager read an invitation to the Mayor to attend a Kayorts Conference in Butte, December 4th,
1949, to discuss munioipal affairs. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe,
that it being in the publio interest Mayor Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe be authorized to attend this
meeting and their expenses be paid from the General Fund. and the motion was carried by the following Aye

and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those
voting No, none.
Water Main to Country Club and Ball Park
The City Commission having on November 9th, 1949 authorized the installa tion of a water main from
Buttonwood Avenue east to the Bozeman CountryC1ub property, conditioned on the cost of this main being
paid by the abutting property owners, letters were read from the Bozeman Lodge No. 463 B. P. O. E. and I
from Dr. R. A. Williams, each of which stated that they would pay half the cost of such water main.
The Purchase of Fittingstor Cast Iron Pipe
The City Manager having informed the Commission on November 16th, 1949 of the needs of the Water
Department to purchase approximately .550.00 worth of fitting forcaat iron pipe to bring stocks on
hand to recommended levels, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that
the Manager be authorized to purchase such fittings and the motion was carried by the following Aye and
No vote: those votingA1e being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting
No, none.
Report.
The following reports for the month of November were presented:
Cemetery Board City Engineer Librarian Police Judge
It was moved by Comndssioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the reports be aocepted
and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following ~e and No vote: those voting Ave being
Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner HealYJ those voting No, none.
Bids for S. I. D. 369
The Manager stated this was the time and place set for the opening of bids for Special Improvement I
District No. 359, sanitary sewer on North Black from Cottonwood to Tamarack Street. He stated that
the advertisement for bids has not been published as required, whereupon, it W8.sD1Oved by Commissioner
Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the call i'or bids be advertised and opened at the regular
meeting of December 14th, 1949, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No votea those
voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Delivery of Snow and Dirt Loader
The Pettibone Mulliken loading machine ordered from the Seitz Machine Company on their bid accepted
August 31, 1949 was delivered on November 29th, 1949. This machine was demonstrated in operation on
this date to the City Commission by the representative of the Seitz Machiner,y Company.
Adjou rnment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by
Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote: those voting A1e being ~or Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and
Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
