The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Co~~ission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday afternoon, May 11th, 1949 at 1:00 o'clock F. M. Those being present were Mayor
,
Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and
the Clerk. when the following proceedings were had:
I The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded
by Commissioner Lowe, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those
voting No, none.
Bids for Equipment to Heat Swimming Fool
The Manager stated that this is the time and place set for the opening of bids for the installation
of equipment for heating the water at the swirmning pool. He presented the affidavit of publioation of
the Notice to Bidders, whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that
the bids be opened, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
The following bids were thereupon opened and read:

Anderson Plumbing Co. . 9.810.00
Frank J. Trunk . . . 7.990.66
Savage Plumbing & Heating . 8,495.00
After discussion and tabulation of the bids it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commis-
sioner Lowe, that the bid of Frank J. Trunk, in the amount of $7.990.66. be accepted subject to the
I following conditions:
a. That a satisf'actory contract in accordance with this bid be executed between Mr. Trunk and
- the City;
b. That Mr. Trunk furnish an acceptable performance bond,

c. That the Bozeman Chamber of Commerce pay to the City the sum of $3,630.49 which amount has
- been paid to them by Civic Organizations and citizens in Bozeman for donation to the Fark
Fund to apply on the cost of swimming pool heating equipment.
And, on the completion of these provisions, that certified checks filed with their bids be returned to
the unsuccessful bidders and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Reports
The following reports for the month of April, 1949 were presented~
Chi ef of Police Plumbing Inspeotor
It was moved by Co~~issioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the reports be acoepted and
ordered filed end the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Sorenson. Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Alpeal of E. F. Case
I The City Commission, sitting as the Board of Examiners and Appeals, heard an appeal of E. F. Cass
relative to a rear entrance in the building now under construction at 414 East Babcock to be used as a
bowling alley. The building as planned has a rear exit door which. when opened. will swing into the
alley. Such construction does not conform to the building code. After consideration of the location of
the building, the fact that most property along the alley is residential and that there is little
probability of congestion in this particular area, it was decided that it is unnecessary to require Mr.
Cass to change the location of the door in question.
Jrurchase of piF,e for Sewage Flant
The Manager stated that approximately 300 ft. of 12~ corrugated pipe is needed for the Sewage

Treatment Flant and toot at least 120 ft. of' this size pipe is used by the Street Department for
oulverts. Quoted price on this pipe is $1.76 per ft. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by
Commissioner Healy, that the City Manager be authorized to purchase pipe in accordance with the above
quotation and in the amounts shown as needed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson. Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting
No, none. I
Renewal of Armory Lease
The Manager stated that the lease with the Adjutant General of Montana for the Armory Building
expires July 1, 1949. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the lease
be renewed for another two year period, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:
those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No~ none.
Relort of Highway Traffic Count
Maps showing the traffic count made by the Montana State Highway last year were presented to the
Commission.
AI-,plication for City License
The application of Walt Davis for a City License was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe,
seoonded by Commissioner Healy that the application be approved and the lioense issued and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and
Co~nissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Resolution No. 646 -- Intention to Create S. I. D. No. 357
The Manager stated that the City Attorney as instructed has prepared the resolution of intention to .
oreate Special Improvement District No. 367, sanitary sewer on Beall Street f'rom Fifth Avenue to Third I
Avenue. He presented Resolution No. 645, entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN DECLARING IT TO BE THE INTENTION OF
THE CITY OF BOZEMAN TO CREATE A SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT TO BE KNOWN AS SPECIAL IMFROVEMENT
DISTRICT NUMBER 357 OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN FUR THE PURFOSE OF CONSTRUCTING AND INSTALLING A
SANITARY SEWER ON WEST BEALL STREET BETWEEN THIRD AVENUE AND FIFl'H AVENUE IN SAID CITY.
It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the resolution be passed
and adopted, and June Ist~ 1949 be set as the date for the hearing of protests and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and
Commissioner Healy; those voting No. none.
