M. Those being fresent Were Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe. Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had: I The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Healy. seconded by Corrnnissioner Lowe, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote& those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner LOWe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Bids for Bonds of S. I. D. Nos. 349, 351, 353, & 354 The Manager stated that this was the time and place set for receiving bids for the purcha.se of bonds of Special Improvement Distrists No. 349, 35l, 353 and 354. He presented the affidavit of publica- tion of the Notice and stated that bids would be received for the bonds of District No. 349 in the approximate amount of $8.000.00. The following oral bids were thereupon received: Mrs. Virginia McCracken par 6% interest Mr. J. N. Dunbar par 5.9% interest Grande & Company par 5.75% interest Mr. J. N. Dunbar, par. 5.50% interest Grande & Company par 5.25% interest Mr. J. N. Dunbar par 5.00% interest Gra,nde & Company par 5.00.% interest with a 50~ premium on each $100.00 bond. There being no further bids, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Cormnissioner Lowe that the low bid of Mr. Karl F. Beehrer, representing Grande & Compa.ny of Seattle. Washington. of par. 5% ~ interest and a premium of 501 on each $100.00 bond be accepted, subject to their furnishing a suff'icient I guaran tee as provided in the call for bids, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No. none. Bids were then called for the bonds of Special Improvement District No. 351, in the approximate amount of $46,000.00. The bid of Mr. Karl F. Beehrer, representing Grande & Company of Seattle, Wash., of par with interest at ~ per annum was the only bid received, whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the bid of Grande & Company be accepted subjeot to their furnishing a sufficient gus.rantee as provided in the call for bids, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. The Commission then called for bids for the bonds of Special Improvement District No. 353, in the approximate amount of $21,000.00. The following bids were made: - Mrs. Virginia McCracken par 6% interest Grande 4: Company par $ interest There being no further bids, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Comndssioner Lowe, that the bid of Mr. Karl F. Beehrer, representing Grende & Company, being the lowest and best bid" be accepted subject to their furnishing a guarantee as provided in the call for bids and the motion was I carried by the following ~e and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson. Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Bids were then called for the bonds of Special Improvement District No. 354, in the approximate amount of $21,000.00. The following bids were heard: Mrs. Virginia MoCracken par 6% interest Grande & Company par 5!% interest There being no further bids heard, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the bid of Grande & Company be accepted subject to their furnishing a sufficient guarantee as provided in the oall for bids and the motion was oarried by the following Aye and No votet those voting 252 Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those voting; No, none. Bond & Contract for Heating Swinmdng fool The bond and contract of Frank J. Trunk for the furnishing and installing equipment f'or heating the water at the swimming pool were presented. The bond and contraot were approved as to form by the City Attorney, whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the Mayor and the Clerk of the Commiss ion be authorized to sign the bond and contract for The City of Bozeman and the I'. motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Resolution No. 646. Intention to Create S. 1. D. 356 The Manager stated that the City Attorney as instructed has prepared the resolution of intention to create Special Improvement District No. 356, paving on Fourth Avenue from Cleveland to Arthur Street, and on Arthur Street from Fourth Avenue to Fifth Avenue. He presented Resolution No. 646, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF' BOZEMAN DECLARING IT TO BE THE INTENTION OF' THE CITY OF' BOZEMAN TO CREATE A SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT ro BE KNOWN AS SFECIAL IMFROVEMENT DISTRICT NllMBER 356 OF TIrE CITY OF BOZEMAN FOR THE FURf'OSE OF CONSTRUCTING CONCRETE CURBS AND BITUMINOUS FAVEMENT ON SOUTH FOURTH AVENUE FROM CLEVELAND STREET TO ARTHUR STREET AND ON AR'I'HUR S TREETFROM SOUTIr FOURTH AVENUE TO SOllTH F'IFTE AVENUE IN SAID CITY. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the Resolution be passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Mayor appointed as Member of' Board of Health The Manager stated that the County Commissioners plan to appoint a Board of Real th to administer the activities of the City-County Health Unit) state law provides that the Mayor name a City Commissioner as a member of this Board and the County Commissioners have requested that the Mayor make such an I appointment. After discussion and recommendation by the other two members of the Commission that the Mayor should be the city representative on this Board of Heal th, Mayor Sorenson agreed that he would accept the appointment and announce the appointment of himself as such member. It was moved by Commis- sioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the appointment be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Healy and Commis- sioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Sale of Studebaker Fire Truck The Manager presented an offer of J. W. Lehrkind, a member of the Town Counoil of' White Sulphur Springs. Montana, of $100.00 for the purchase of the 1927 Studebaker Fire Truck owned by this City. This truck has been replaoed by more modern equipment, it is of no particular value as standby equipment for this City and it should be of more value to a small town as emergency equipment than its value for salvage. It was. therefore, moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the offer be accepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Reports The following reports for the months of March and April, 1949 were ~resented: I Director of Finance City Engineer It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Dawes Otis Hoekema Louise's Cafe Schraeder's Refrigeration It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Corrunissioner Lowe that the applications be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Bids f'or Prefabricated Steel Buildings }llans and specifications prepared by Fred F. Willson, Architect, for two prefabricated steel buildings to be erected at the City yards for the storage of Water Department material and equipment were presented. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the Clerk be authorized to advertise for bids to be opened June 8th, 1949. for the two buildings, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Corrunissioner Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by I, Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Healy and .
