District Board (BDBID) MEETING DATE: July 10, 2017 MEETING TYPE: Action
RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to appoint up to two members to the Bozeman Downtown Business Improvement District Board with updated terms of June 30, 2021.
BACKGROUND: The Bozeman Downtown Business Improvement District Board (BDBID) has
two seats that expired on June 30, 2017. Two current members have reapplied. 1. Expired June 30, 2017 (2) (members reapplied)
Montana Code stipulates that BDBID Board members be owners of property within the district. In
the past, several applicants were appointed to the board as "property owner representatives" because their property title named a corporation as the owner rather than the individual. For many years the City Commission has honored this precedent by appointing property owner representatives to the BID Board.
The BID was originally created by Resolution No. 3361 and Ordinance No. 1517, per MCA 7-12-1121, in May of 2000. In June of 2010, the BID was extended/recreated by Resolution No. 4263 for an additional ten years.
The board shall be comprised of not less than five, nor more than seven, owners of property within
the district. Members are appointed for staggered four-year terms. This board has two expired positions. The City Clerkâs Office has received two applications.

with the BID board for a very long time and feel a strong commitment to the prosperity of
Downtown Bozeman. I am a co- owner of historic buildings downtown which we have restored
that are occupied by many established businesses. Our office is on Main Street since 1991 and

we live only 5 blocks from Main Street. I grew up on a ranch between Livingston and Bozeman
and have been involved as a real estate broker and investor in Bozeman since 1982. It is a joy to
see Main Street prosper and grow. I love being a part of it and would very much like to continue
in that capacity.

Other Info: I have been involved in the downtown improvements plan since the very first plan,
the Maker's Plan and provide a long understanding of the history of downtown as well as the
improvements that have been happening over the years. It is an asset to the Board to have that
background along with the new people who have recently joined.
