Bozeman, Montana
June 15th, 1949
The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall
Building, Wednesday afternoon, June 15th, 1949 at 1:00 o'clock J. M. Those being present were Mayor
Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson. City Attorney Lovelace and
the Clerk, when the following proceedings were hadt
The minuteS of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded I
by Commissioner Lowe, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those
voting No, none.
Contract for Construction of Steel Buildings
A contract between Ray Anderson and The Ci~ of Bozeman in accordance with the bid submitted by Mr.
Anderson on June 8, 1949 for the construction of two steel buildings at the City Yards was presented.
The contract was approved as to form by the City Attorney. whereupon. it was moved by Commissioner Healy,
seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the Contract be approved end the Mayor and the Clerk of the Commission
be authorized to sign it for the Ci~ of Bozeman, end the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No,
none.
Extension of Armory Lease
An agreement between the City of Bozeman and the Adjutant General of the State of Montana to extend
the present lease of that part of' the Bozeman Armory under control of the City from the City to the
Adjutant General for a two year period beginning July 1. 1949 was presented. The agreement was approved
as to form by the City Attorney, whereupon. it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner I
Healy, that the Agreement be approved and the Mayor and the Clerk of the Commission be authorized to sign
the agreement for The City of Bozeman and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
fatching Material from State Highway
The Manager stated the City needs road oils for mixing patching material for City streets and. to
obtain this material from the State Highway Commission, a resolution authorizing the City Manager to make
such purchase must be adopted and presented to the Highway Commission. The following resolution authoriz-
ing the purchase of material was presented and readt
WHEREAS the City of Bozeman has immediate need for limited quantities of road oil for use in
making emergency repairs on streets in Bozeman, and
WHEREAS the City of Bozeman does not have proper facilities for proouring and storing quantities
of such oils in Bozeman, and
WHEREAS the Montana State Highway Commission has quantities of road oil of the required types
stored in Bozeman from which it may be able to supply the immediate needs of the City of Bozeman
at cost plus handling charge.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
That an emergency does exist and the City Manager is hereby authorized to purcha€e from the Montana
State Highway Commission. from its stocks in storage in Bozeman, approximately 3000 gallons of I
road oil as required for use in patching pavement in Bozeman during 1949.
Fassed and adopted by the City Commission of Bozeman, Montana at a regular session of said Commission
held on the 15th day of June, 1949.

Applications for City Licenses
The following applications for City Licenses were presented:
Sun Down Auto Camp for one-half year
. Elk's Country Club for a City Beer and City Liquor License
I It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the applications be approved
and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye
being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Report
The report of the Director of Finance for the month of May, 1949 was presented. It was moved by
Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the report be accepted and ordered filed md the

motion was carried by the following Aye and No votet those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner
Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Sale and Discharge of Fireworks
Conditions in Bozeman relative to sale and discharge of fireworks was discussed. Conflict between
Ordinanoe No. 716, of the City of Bozeman, and Montana Stat'e Law and need for clarification of state
law were pointed out but it was not considered advisable or necessary to make any change in this City's
ordinance at this time.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commis-
sioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the
