Road to Lillian Gardner Young's Froperty
Mrs. Lillian Gardner Young appeared before the Commission to request that the crossing across the
Northern Pacific Railroad tracks. which was olosed in 1942. be re-opened. She also requested that the
road leading in to her property in the northeast corner of the City be improved to make it usable the
year around. She was informed that the matter of re-opening the railroad crossing in question was
entirely a matter between her and the Northern Pacific Railroad Co. and the City had no reason for
requesting the railroad company to re-open it. The City Commissioners together with the City Manager
made a trip to inspect the road in question. It was found that this road is not a City street. that
the part of it which she requests improved is on her own property and that there is nothing in her
request on which the City should or will take any action.
I'added Cell of County Jail
Referring to the authorization given the City Manager on November 24th to request use of the
I padded cell in the County Jail by the Bozeman Police Department in cases of emergency. the Manager
reported that he has inspeoted this cell and finds it unfit for use.
Prohibiting I'arking on South Black and South Tracy
The Manager reported that parking lots at the corner of Tracy and Babcock and at the corner of
Black and Olive are now available for use. With oars parked on Black between Babcock and Olive and
on fracy between Babcock and Olive traffic congestion is serious and he recommended that, under the
provisions of Ordinance No. 672.he issue an order prohibiting parking on the west side of Black and on
the east side of Tracy Avenue in the blocks described. Whereupon it was moved by Commissioner Healy.
seconded by Commissioner Lowe. that the issuing of such an order by the City Manager be authorized and
approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor
Sorenson. Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No. none.
Coasting on College Street between Tracy and Bleck and on other streets
The use of city streets by children for coasting was discussed. The Chief of Folice stated that
he had had several requests to block off College Street between Tracy end Black Avenues for a coasting
hill. It was pointed out that Sixth Avenue between Cleveland and Col~ge Streets is now used as a
coasting hill and that it would be impractical to block off other streets for the same puq, ose. I twas
I
also considered impractical to sand College Street or other streets after each snow to prevent child ren
from coasting on tilem.
