HomeMy WebLinkAbout1948-01-12 200 Bozeman, Montana January 12th, 1949 The Commiss ion of The Gi ty of Bozeman met in regular sess ion in the Corrnnission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, Ja.nuary 12th, 1949 at ltOO o'clock P. M. Those being present were Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it wes moved by Commissioner Healy, I seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the minutes be afproved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Reports The following reports for the month of' December, 1948 were presented: Chief of Folice Engineer Librarian Water Collector Folice Judge and the annual report of the Folice Judge. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the ref'orts be aocepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye end No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; thOSe voting No. none. Swimming Pool, Estimate of Cost for Heating The City Manager informed the Commission that engineers from the Sullivan Valve Engineering Company of Butte, Montana had prepared an estimate of cost for installing equipment at the Municipal Swimming Fool for heating the water in the pool. The estimate was $6.333.00. No action was taken on the matter at this time. Ar,plications f'or City Licenses I The applications of' the Top Hat Lounge for a city beer and liquor license and the application of' Walter Erioson for a beer license were presented. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Healy that the applications be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson. Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Faul's Modern Market It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the applications be arproved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting; Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No. none. Peti tion for S. I. D. (Olive, Curtiss & Seventh) I A peti tion from representative property owners was presented, requesting that a Special Improvement District be established to provide for street improvements on Seventh Avenue between Main and Koch, and on Curtiss and Olive Streets between Sixth Avenue and Eighth Avenue. The improvements proposed are to install storm sewers, curbs. necessary base and a black top or oil mixed gravel surface. It we. s moved by Corrnnissioner Lowe. seconded by Commissioner Healy that the City Engineer be instructed to prepare preliminary plans and an estimated cost of the proposed improvements and that, based on this 201 estimate of cost, the City Attorney prepare a Resolution of Intention to create this proposed district; the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: thoo e voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Corrnnissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. PeU tion for S. I. D. North Grand A petition from representative property owners from North Grand Avenue was presented, requesting I that a Special Improvement District be created for the purpose of providing for street improvements on North Grand Avenue between Lamme and Tamarack Streets; the improvements to consist of' excavating and building base where neoessary and installing an oil and gravel mixed or black top surface for the street. It was moved by Corrnnissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the City Engineer be instructed to prepare preliminary plans and an estimated cost of the proposed improvements and that. based on this estimate of cost, the City Attorney prepare a Resolution of Intention to create this proposed district; the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson. Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Meeting of Executive Committee of MUIl.ic ipal League The Manager stated that a meeting of the Executive Committee of' the Montana Municipal League is to be held in Helena, January 13, 1949. The purpose of the meeting is to consider legislation which will be presented to the present session of the State Legislature. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that it being in the publio interest that the City Manager is hereby authorized to attend this meeting and that his expenses be paid from the general fund. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. I ScotchLite for Bicycles Mr. Ed Charmer, representing Bozeman Optimist Club, was present to discuss a proposal of the Optimist Club to "ScotchLite" all bicycles in the city. The material for this project is to be f'urnished by the Optimist Club and the purpose of Mr. Chauner's discussion was to ask the aid and cooperation of the City of Bozeman in the project. He was assured of' the city's cooperation and was advised to work out necessary details with the Police and Fire Departments. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by CommiSSioner Healy that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson.
