HomeMy WebLinkAbout1948-06-30 138 Bozeman, Mon tana June 30 th, 1948 The Commissio~ of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commis2ion Room, City Hall building, Wednesday afternoon, June 30th, 1948 , at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Sorenson, Commies loner Lowe, CommissionerHealy, City Manager henderson, City Attorney Lovelace, and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had to-wit: The rr.lnutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner I Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: thos e voting Ayebeing Mayor Sorenson, Com- missioner Lowe, and CommisrionerHealy; those vo t :tng No, Done. Reports The following reports were presented: Resident Engineer's Progress Report on the Sewage Plant Employment Officer It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those v oting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; thos e voting No, non e. House in Alley in BradY's ReArrangement 'l'he Manager stated that a house at 412 North Wallace estends approximately three feet into the alley which was dedicated by Ike Brady in his rearran~ement of Lot 1; Block 7; Babcock & Davis Addition. It wa s stated that this condition has been brought to the at- ten tion of Mr. Ike Brady but nothing has been done to correct it. It was moved by Com- missioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy tha t the City Attorney notify the owner of _ I this property to remove tha t portion of the bullding which extends in the alley and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Soren- son, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy: those vot:lng No, none. Jaycee Annual Roundup - Carnival License, Pa rade , Advertising Mr. George Sime, Eldon Dahl and Hal Wheat of the Junior Chamber of Commerce appeared be fore the Commi~ston to ask regarding the following ~atters in connection with their annual Roundup: 1. Permission for parade, July 30 th, 1948. 2. That the license fee for the Carnival be waived or lowered. - 3. Permission to place advertising on Main Street Lamp Posts. Permission was granted for the parade. The Commission stated that the carnival li- cense fee is set by ordinance and they could no t waive or lower su ch fe e.- . Permission to place posters for advertising pu.rposes on the li?ht posts on Main Stree t wasn9,tgran ted as sirrdlar reques ts have been made by other organiza tions and have been refused. Sewer ChRrge for Depot and Freight Office Mr. Allen of Livingston, Mon tans, Train Master for the Northern Pacific RailwRY Company, was present to inquire regarding the sewer charge a t the N. P. Depot and their Coal Docks. I Mr. Allen was informed as to how the sewer rate is es tablishe::1, and also that property not connec ted to the sanitary sewer does not pay the sewer assessment. Mr. Allen also in- quired regarding water that is used in railroad cars and does not get into the sanitary sewer. He was informed tha t , if the amount of water used in the railroad cars could be determined, an adjustment could be made. Mr. Allen s ta ted tha t thi s ma tter would be looked in to . 139 Petition for Rezoning Mr. H. B. Landoe appeared before the Commission and presented a petition of property owners requesting that the south one-half of Blocks 51 and 52 of the West Park Addition be rezoned as a Business-Residence District instead of "B" Res:ldence Distr:tct. The public hearing of the Board of Adjustment held on August 18th, 1947 regarding I the rezoning of Block 52, West Park Addjtion was brought to the attention of the Commis- sion. Numerous protests regarding the rezoning of said block wore recorded at that meet- ing. The Commission stated that the si tua tion has not changed me terially since the hea r- in Q", and th3t temporary permits have been issued to the businesses now locoted there un ti 1 June 1, 1950, and it was thereupon, moved and seconded tha t the petition be denied and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye be:ng Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Bids for S.I.D. No. 347 Bids submitted at the meeting of June 23rd, 1948, for t he ins talla tion of wa ter mains in Special Improvement District No. 347 were considered at this time. The bid of Edens and Lee for the installation of asbestos-cement water mains was considered the lowest and best bid, whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the bid of Edens & Lee for the construction of S. 1. D. No. 347 with asbestos-cement pipe, in the amount of $9,026.65 be accepted and the mo tion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commisflioner Lowe and Commis- sioner Healy; those voting No, none. I Meeting of Montana Municipal League Ci ty Manager Henderson reported on the mee ting of the Montana Municipal League which he a ttended atKa lispell, Mon tans. Pl?tting of Westlake Tract !I~r. w. W. Lessley appeared and stated that he has the signatures of all the property owners of the Westlake trRct agreeing to hRve their propertyplatted as required by law. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, i t wa s moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried bv the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorneosn, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
