The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, August 11th, 1948, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those
being present were Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Healy, City Manager
Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace, and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had:
I The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner
Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson,
Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy;those voting No, none.
CPA Audit
Mr. ,J. L. Mayland, CPA, met with the City Commission and explained matters regarding
his audit covering the fiscal year ending June 30th, 1948. He stated that his final
report will be prepared by himself and Mr. Bruce Risley and presented to the City Commis-
sion at an early date.
Bids for Heating & Insulating Bldgs. at City Yards
The Manager stated that estimated cost of insulating one of the pre-frabicated
buildings and installing heating units in two buildings located at the City Yards makes
it necessary to advertise for bids. He stated that Mr. Fred Willson has prepared instruc-
tions and specifications for this work. It was ~oved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by
Commissioner Healy that the Clerk be authorized to advertise for bids covering this work
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor
I Sorens on, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Resignation of Scott Fisher as Fireman
The Manager presented the written resignation of Mr. Scott Fisher as City Fireman,
and the claim covering his salary for seven days in August. It was moved by Commissioner
Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the claim be allowed and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, CommiSSioner Lowe,
and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Roof at Library
The Manager stated Mr. G. L. Anderson had submitted an estimate of $450.00 for labor
for installation of a new roof on the Library Building, but did not include labor cost for
the removal of the old shingles. The estimated cost of asbestos shingles and other ma-
terials required for this roof is $900.00. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded
by Commissioner Lowe that the City Manager be authorized to purchase the required materials
and to employ Mr. G. L. Anderson to install this roof and the motion was carried by the
following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and
I Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Request for Band Concert
The Manager stated that the State 4H Club Leader has requested a band concert by the
City Band during a meeting of the 4H Clubs in Bozeman in September. It was considered
that furnishing a band concert at City expense for an occasion of this kind would estab-
lish a precendent, that other organizations would then look to the City for such free
concerts, and that this would be an improper expenditure of band funds. The request was
therefore denied.

Reports
The following reports were presented:
Director of Finance for the month of June, 1948
Plumbing Inspector for the month of July, 1948
It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the reports be
accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote;
those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Sorenson; those I
voting No, none.
Public Hearing -- Budget
The Manager stated that this was the time and place set for public hearing on the
budget for the fiscal year ending June 30th, 1949. The affidavit of publication of the
Notice of the Hearing was presented. No one was present to be heard and, no protests hav-
ing been filed, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the
Ordinance be ordered published as provisionally adopted and August 25th, 1948 be set as
the date for final passage and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote;
those votIng Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those
voting No, none.
Paving of College Street, 8th to 11th.
A communication from Scott Hart, State Highway Engineer, was read stating that the
StateHighway Commission will recommend repaving College street from Eighth AvenQe to
Eleventh Avenue as a Federal Aid Project, provided that the property owners affected or
the City of.Bozeman pays one-fourth of the cost. The letter stated further that State

Highway engineers will make a survey of the project and prepare plans and an estimate
of cost. Further action on the proposal could not be taken until this estimate is
completed.
Adj ournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was
moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the meeting adjourn and
the motion was carried by the following Aye B.nd No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor
Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
