HomeMy WebLinkAbout1948-09-15 166 Bozeman, Montana September 16th, 1948 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, September 15, 1948, at 1:00 o'clock F. M. Those being present were Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace, and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had: I The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following; Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those votinc No, none. Sewer Rates -- Gallatin Co-op Creamery -- City Dye Works Mr. John King of' the Gallatin Co-operative Creamery, was present to discuss the sewer service charge at their Flants located at 24 North Grand and 27 North Tracy Avenue. Mr. King stated that much of the water used at the plants was used in coolers and condensers and did not get into the sanitary sewer but was put into the storm sewer system. It was decided that, since much of the water used at these plants would not be treated at the sewage treatment plant, an adjustment might be made in the sewer charge. The City Manager, the City Engineer and the Water Superintendent were instructed to work out a proposed equitable rate for the Gallatin Co-operative Creamery plants to be considered .t a later meeting of the Commission. The Manager stated that the sewer charge for the City Dye Works is based on some months when their water bill was over the average amount of water used during the entire year. He recommended that the sewer charge for the City Dye Works, 124 East Main, be determined on the average amount I of water used during the last three years, ~ich would make the monthly sewer service charge $6.94 per month. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the sewer charge for the City Dye Works be adjusted to $6.94 per month and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Bye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Final Fassage -- Resolution No. 631 The Manager stated that this was the time and place set for final adoptionofc the resolution levying the assessment for the construction of Special Improvement District No.: 3_41, water and sewer mains in the south part of the City. He stated that no protests had been filed and no one was present to protest, and presented Resolution No. 631. entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, LEVYING AND ASSESSING A SFECIAL ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON ALL THE FROFERTY IN SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 341 IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLATIN, STATE 0 F MON'lANA, TO DEFRAY THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING AND MAKING THE IMFROVEMENTS WITHIN SAID SFECIAL IM}'RQVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 341. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the resolution be finally passed fud adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. I Frovisional Fassage -- Resolution No. 632 The Manager stated that the resolution levying the assessment for the installation of water mains in the west part of the City (Special Improvement District No. 344) in the amount of $22,000.00 has been prepared. He presented Resolution No. 632, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA LEVYING AND ASSESSING A SPECIAl. ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON ALL THE lFROfERTY IN SPECIAL IMFROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 344 IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLATIN, STATE OF MONTANA, TO DEFRAY THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING AND MAKING THJ<~ IMFROVEMENTS WITHIN SAID SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 344. 167 It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner HeNY that the resolution be provisionally passed and September 22nd, 1948 be set as the date for the hearing of protests and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. lrovisional Fassage ~~ Resolution No. 633 I The Manager stated that the resolution levying an assessment in the amount of $3,600.00 for construction of Special Improvement District No. 346 sanitary sewer in the northwest part of the City has been prepared. He presented Resolution No. 633, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CON!MISSION OF THE CITY OF' BOZEMAN, MONTANA, LEVYING AND ASSESSING A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON ALL THE PROPERTY IN SFECIAL IMFROVEM~'T DISTRICT NO. 346 IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN. COUNTY OF GALLATIN, STATE OF MONTANA. ro DEFRAY THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING AND MAKTIW THE IMFROVEMENTS WITHIN SAID SPECIAL IN.FROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 346. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the resolution be provisionally passed and September 22nd, 1948 be set as the date for the hearing of protests and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting ~e being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lawe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No. none. Reports The following reports for the month of August, 1948 were presented: City Engineer Plumbing Inspector It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the rerorts be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. I Meeting of Executive Committee ~ Water Works Association The Manager reported that the Executive Committee of the Water Works Association would meet in Helena September 18th, 1948 . It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the City Manager be authorized to attend the meeting and his expenses be paid from the Water Fund and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Offer to sell }roper~ adjacent to Bogart Fark The Manager stated that Mr. John Kamps, owner of Lots 6, 7, 8, 9, and the East 20 feet of Lot 10; Block B; Harpers' Addition, located on Olive Street between Rouse and Church Avenues, has offered to sell said property to the City of Bozeman for $3,600.00. After discussion and con~ sideration, it was decided that the City should not acquire more [round for park purposes in this particular part of the City and was not interested in purchasing this property. Approval of Furchase of Lots at Black and Olive A communication was read from the Civic Affair Committee of the Chamber of Commerce recommend- ing and approving; the purchase of the property offered to the City by K. J. Stimson. located at the corner of Black and Olive.
