The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, September 29th, 1948, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Tho s e
being present were Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Healy, City Manager
Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk when the following proceedings were had:
I The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner
Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being MaYJr Sorenson, Com-
mis sione Lowe and Commiss iO;ler Healy; those voting No, none.
Building -- 501 North Willson
Mr. Joseph Vacca, appeared before the Commission regarding a building he is constructing
on Lots 11 & 12; Block 6; Beall's Third Addition. The Manager explained that the building
is not being constructed in accordance with the application for building permit, in that
it is to have living quarters. and would then be a dwelling andnot a garage and work shop.
The Manager explained further that the building constructed as a dwelling WOQld not comply
with the Zoning Ordinance, and stated that he had explained all of this to Mr. Vacca at
the time the application was made for a building permit. Mr. Vacca stated that he was
improving the property and that he has spent approximately $500.00 on the construction.
City Manager Henderson stated that he would write Mr. Vacca a letter stating that under
the present conditions, a building can not be constructed for or used for dwelling purposes
at its present proposed location.
I Fire Prevention Week
Mr. F. H. Callister was present regarding a proclamation for Fire Prevention Week.
The Mayor stated that such a proclamation wotlld be issued.
Platting of North Seventh Addition Approved
Mr. W. W. Lessley appeared and presented a plat of the unplatted ground north of
Durston Road to Hemlock Street and from North Seventh Avenue to North Fifth Avenue. The
abstract of title having been exa~ined and approved by the City Attorney, it was moved
by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the plat be approved and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson,
Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Resignation of Florence Hamilton - Library Board
The written resignation of Mrs. Florence Hamilton as a member of the Library Board
was presented and read. It was moved by Commis sioner Lo,:,e, seconded by (;omrnissioner Healy
that the resignation be accepted and that a letter of thanks be sent to Mrs. Hamilton for
her long and valued service as a member of the Library Board and the motion was ce-rried
by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner
I Lowe and Commissio~er Healy; those voting No, none.
Fire School at Polson
The Manager stated that the Ninth Annual Polson Fire School WOQld be held in October;
that he has talked with the Fire Chief and the Assistant Chief and in their opinion more
cOlld be gained by sending men to a larger school with instructors trained in the this work.
Whereupon, the Manager recommendedthat the City of Bozeman Fire Department not send a rep-
resentative to the Polson Fire School. The Commission expressed approval of the

reccommendation.

There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was
moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the meeting adjourn and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor I
Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commi3sioner Healy; those v oting No, non e .
