TY,ose being present were Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Healy, City Man~ger Hendel son, and the Clerk, when tne following proceedings were had to-l'li t: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner I Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the minutes be approved 8S read, a.nd the' motion \vas carried by the folJowing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; tho se votir;g No, none. Sewer Connection st Kessler Dairy r.1r. Fred Kessler, of the KessJ.er Dairy, was present to discuss further the chanfing of sewer connections at their creamery at 708 West Main Street. He stated th'} t an ef) tima te had been made by the Savage Plumbing ~ Heating Company of ~506.35 to rearrange the plumbing so that all floor drains would be connected to the sanitary sewer and the roof drains and sumps would be connected to the storm sewer. Mr. Kessler stated tha t because this rearrangement of t,}-'e sewer pipes would be an in- convenience to them and he felt ttat this inconvenience should represent their share in the cost of the dlanging of the sewer connections, and that the City should pay the entire cost of the c~ange to be made in the connections. After consideration, the matter was taken under advisement pending further investiga- tion of the premises. I Christmas street Decorations !\1r . Tom Ellis of the Chamber of Commerce and Cresap McCracken of the Trade Extension Committee of the Chamber of COMmerce were present to ask if the City WOJld match the $1,000 budgeted by the Chamber for Christmas street decorations. They stated that the decorations were a trade promotion scheme up to a certain point and that afterthat the decorations were for the pleasure and enjoyment of the citizens of the city and should be supported by tbe city. They were informed that, if this was done, the money would have to come from some city fund supported by taxes or by increasing the tax levy anrl that an increased levy for such purposes might not be permitted under the law. After discussion, it was suggested that the Chamber of Commerce write to other cities inquiring as to how t~eir Christmas decorations are financed and that any action on this matter be deferred pending receipt of such information. Car for City Engineer The Manager stated that the 1946 Chevrolet Delivery Sedan used by the Police Department on a rental basis from the Northern Automobile Company ic being replaced and thJ. t thi s us ed car can be purchased for tl195.00, and a car is needed by the Ci ty E:n,e;i.neer and this type I of car in which his equipment could be carried would fill the needs for that office. It ~~s moved by Commissioner LOfle, seconded by Commissioner Healy that this car be purchased by t~e Water Department for the use of the City Engineer and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye bejn~ Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Ilealy; those voting No, none. Construction Ih.966.70 Total $ 62,0]3.63 The Manager stated that he has audited these claims and finds them to be true and 1 awfu 1 claims against The City of Bozeman and recommends that warrants be drawn for their payment. After examination of the claims in detail by the City Commission, it was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the claims be approved and warrants drawn for their payment and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy: those voting No, none. Reports The following reports for the month of April, 1948 were presented: Employment Officer Librarian Fire Chi e f Sanitary Inspector Police Judge Police Chief It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner LO\ive Ulat the reports oe accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. I Applications for City Licenses The following applications for City Licenses were presented: Burger Inn Patrick's Radio Service It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the applica- tions be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the follow ing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Investment of Sewer Eond Funds The matter of investing a part of the money from the sale of the sewer revenue bonds was discussed. After careful consider3tion, it 'was moved by Commissioner Lovve, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the Director of Finance be authorized to invest ~200,000.OO from the Sewage Disposal System Construction Fund in U. (' Treasury Certificates of In- ..J. debtedness, 7/8%, dated September 1, 1947 and due July 1, 1948, and that the First National Bank of Minneapolis be authorized to act as custodian of these bonds for safekeeping, and the motion was carried by the followin~ Aye and No vote; trose voting Aye being lvlayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. I Plans for Sewage Plant Final plans and specifications of the sewage treatment plant as prepared by Burns 8 McDonnell were presented. It was stated that bids would be opened June 2nd, 1948. h~eeting of T\~unicipal League The City Manager reported that the Montana Municipal League would meet in Kalispell, June 21 and 22, 19l}8, and suggested tha~ if possible, the members of the Commission should plan to attend. 119 Adjournment There being no further business to come befnre the Commis siem at" this time, it ,vas moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: thoGe voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
