HomeMy WebLinkAbout1948-02-11 85 Bozeman, Montana February 11th, 1948 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, February 11th, 1948, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk, when the following: proceedings were had: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner I Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Com- missioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Meeting Bozeman Creek Reservoir Co. The Manager reported on the meeting held on February 9th, 1948, of the stockholders of the Bozeman Creek Reservoir Company. Plans were made at tha t mee ting for further survey or reconnaissance on a road or "Cat Trail" to Mystic Lake as early as snow conditions per- mit with the view of providing means for transporting materials to the Lake and making needed improvements and repairs at the Mystic Lake Dam in 1948 if in any way possible. Reports The following reports for themonth of January, 1948 were presented: Engineer Sanitary Inspector It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting ^ye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those I voting No, none. Applications for City Licenses The following applications for City Licenses were presented: The Cue Dahl Funeral Home Boharts' M~at Market Louise Cafe Casto Cash Grocery Dudley Radio Service Harry Miller Kenny'S Motor Sales Montgomery-Ward & Co. T. M. .Johnson Fleming's Wholesale Doley's Texaco ~ervice Louis Klawi tter Bridges' Donut Shop North American Company Dr. Harvey Fearn Willys-Olson Motors Gallatin Co-operative Creamery Nunnelly's Motel It was moved by- Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commie sioner Lowe tha t the applioa- tions be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those vo ting No, non e . Jr. Chamber to be represented at City COr.1mission r,1eetings Mr. Robin MacNab was present as a representative of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. He stated that it is the intention of the Junior Chamber to have a representative at each meetin:~ of the City Commission to keep their organization informed on City activities and to co-operate with the City in any way possible. Mr. MacNab was informed that all I ci tizens are welcome a t any meeting of the Ci ty Commis s ion and tha t the Ci ty Comrnis sion wonld be pleased to have a Junior Chamber of Commerce representative present at each meeting. Ordinance 1',TO. 745 -- Recreation Poard Proposed Ordinance No. 745 was presented with title as follows: AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC RECREATION UNDER THE DEPAR~~F.NT OF PUBLIC WELFARE AND REPEALING ORDINANCES 560 AND 571 of THE CITY OF BOZEMAN AND ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CON- FLICT HEREWITH. 86 It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the Ordinance be passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those vo ting No, none. Bids lor Motor Grader The Manager stated that a first need of the City in heavy equipment is a motor grader. I From inforrnation,available, it appears that prompt delivery can be secured on such a machine, and that there is sufficient monies appropriated for capital outlay in the general fund to purchase such a grader. After consideration, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the Clerk of the Commission be authorized to advertise for a motor grader, bids to be opened March 3rd, 1948, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those vo ting No, none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Comrnis sion a t this time, i.t was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those vo ting Aye being Mayor Soren s on, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
