HomeMy WebLinkAbout1948-02-18 Bozeman, Montane 87 FebrUAry 18th, 1948 The Commission of The Ci ty of Bozemen met in regular session ir: the Cornmis sian Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, February 18th, 1948, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Sorenson, Commis sloI1er Lowe, Commissioner Healy, City Manager Henderson, Ci ty Attorney Lovelace and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commis~ioner I Healy ~ seconded by Mayor Sorenson that the minutes be approved as read, and the mo tion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Com- missioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. Applications for City Licenses Commissioner Lowe entered and was noted present The following applications for City Licenses were presented: Obie Signs Oxford Hotel Culligan Soft Water Pines Cafe Heidel Agency Golden Crust Bakery Henry Suhr Bozeman Jewlery Bozeman Feed & Grain Z & W Sales Floyd E. Butler Dr. Roland G. Keeton The Bungalow Bozeman Auto Camp Badgley Machine Works Pease Jewelry Heeb Bros. Market Super Creamed Ice Cream It was moved by -Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that che applications be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vo t e ; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Return for Credit of Excess Parking Meters The Manager reported that the Dual Parking Meter Company has offered $1,150.20 for I thirty excess meter heads and twenty-four meter mechanisms which the city has on hand, and recommended that the offer be accepted. After consideration, it was moved by Commissioner LoV'.'e, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the City Manager be authorized to return the meter heads and mecheri isms to the Dual Parking Meter Company for $1,150.20 and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Comnii s- sioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; tho se voting No, none. Widening of Bnbcock street The Manager presented the City Engineer's estimates of cost for the widen~ng to the sidewalk the following streets: Babcock Street from Black Avenue to Grand Avenue Tracy ~venue from Babcock Street to Olive Street Black Avenue from Babcock Street to Olive Street The co st for the use of "black-top" being $17,495.00 and for the use of concrete being $17,415.00. He stated that these costs were in excess of the amount that could be expended for street improvement s during the coming budget year, but should be considered in future planning. The Commission felt that, if it is at all possible, Tracy Avenue from Babcock I to Olive should be widened this summer. Report of Meeting of Executive Cornmi ttee of Municipal League Mr. Fred Quinnell reported on the executive committee meeting of the Montana Municipal League which he attended in Helena. Bids for Band Uniforms The Manager stated that this was the time and place set for the opening of bids for thirty-four band uniforms and one director's uniform for the Bozemen Municipal Band. He presented the affidavit of publication of the Notice to Bidders, whereupon, 1 t was moved 88 by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the bids be opened and read, and the motion was carried by the following ~ye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting 10, none. The following bids were thereupon opened and read: McCracken Bros. 16 oz Whip-cord, 100% wool $58.50 per uniform Rowles-Mack Co. 14/15 oz Whip-cord, 100% wool 49.00 per unlfo~ The bids were taken under advisement until the next meeting of the City Conunission. I Repar ts The following reports for the month of January, 1948 were presented: Director of Finance Cemetery Board Nursery School and the report of the Director of Finance for the month of December, 1947. It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lo~e that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye bei~.g Mayor Sorenson, Commissloner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none. TERMS AND MANNER OF PAYMENT OF THE BOND;.) AND THE c;ECURITY THEREFOR The ordinance was taken under consIderation for adoption at a later meeting. I Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commi ssioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
