February 25th, 1948
The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, February 25th, 1948, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those
beIng present were Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, Commissioner Healy, Ci ty Mana ger
Henderson, City Attorney Lovelace, and the Clerk when the following proceedings were had:
I The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner
Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the minutes be approved as read, and the mo tion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those vo'ting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commis-
sioner Lowe and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none.
Building at 303 North Seventh
The City Manager stated that Mr. James Kolokotron8s owner of property at 305 North
Seven th A venue, has asked permission to move the present building a t this address on to
the untravelled portion of North Seventh Avenue, while another building is being con-
structed on the property; tha t this would perrni t the business now being carried on there
to continue opera tion during the cons truction period, of approximately two months. It
was decided to take the matter up with the State Highway Commission before a decision is
reached, on the matter.
Platting of Land on Nortl, Seventh
Mr. Paul Jones appeared to discuss platting of ground which he owns on North Seventh
Avenue. A meeting of the Oi ty Manager, City Attorney and Mr. Jones was arranged to see
if something could be worked out regarding platting this ground.
I Applic;~'_ tions for City Licenses
The following applications for City Licenses were presented:
Gamble's Richardson's The Willson Co. Gallatin Nash Motors Terry's Used Cars
It was moved by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the applica-
tions be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner
Healy; those voting No, none.
Kennel License -- 316 North Church
The Manager stated that Mrs. Joe Bucd had applied for a kennel license at 316 North
Church Avenue, and that the license had not been issued because the zoning ordinance does
not permit dog kennels in this residential district. It was decided that the kennel
license should not be issued even though a kennel license had been issued in error in past
years at this address; but that Mrs. Budd should purchase a license for each dog that
she has.
Fids for Band Un~'Lforms
The Manager presented recommendations of bandsmen on style and colors for the i r
I uniforms and stated thpt investip;ation indicated that uniforms proposed to be furnished
by the low bidder, Rowles-Mack Company, would be the best buy for theCi ty. It was moved
by Commissioner Healy, seconded by Commissloner Lowe that the bid of the Rowles-Mack Com-
pany for furnishing thirty-five uniforms for band members be accepted and the motion was
carried by the fo llowing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commis-
sioner Lowe and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.

Sewer Rate schedule Approved
The Manag~r reported that the Public Service Commission would approve the ra te
structure for sewer rental as proposed, provided, the por ti on 0 f the s chedu Ie r eq ui ring
water users whose property 1s not connected to the sewer to pay sewer rental be deleted,
and also the t the provision for the wa ter user who feels that the rate being charged to
him for sewer rental is unjust may appeal to the City COn1mission and then to the Public I
Service Commission be omitted. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commis-
sioner Healy that the suggestions of the Public Service Commission be approved and that
the rate schedule be changed to meet these suggestions ~nd the motinn was carried by
the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe
and Commissioner Healy; those voting No, none.
Offer for Spieth House
The Manager sta ted the t he had several offers to remove the house on the ltSpieth
property"; ranging from a cost of $l,UOO.OO to an offer of $102.00 for the house by J. A.
Golding, and recommended tha t the offer of .T. A. Golding be accepted. It was moved by
Commie sioner Healy, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the City Manager be authorized to
accept the offer of J. A. Golding, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and
No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commis~ioner Healy and Commissioner Lowe;
those voting No, none.
Request for Additional paynent on Sewer ~rreatment Equipment
A communication from The Dorr Company who are to furnish part of the sewage trea t-
rnent equipment was read, stating that because of the incr'::Bse In the cost of steel they I
would like The City of Bozeman to absorb a part of this increased cost. It was stated
thnt The City of Bozeman advertised for bids early to avoid these possible increase in
costs and that the Dorr Company has a contract with the City to furnish this equipment
and they should comply with their contract. The Nanager was instructed to write to
the Dorr Company and advise them of the City's position in this ma t ter .
Traffic Ordinance
The matter of traffic ordinances being brought up to date was discussed, and i t
was moved by Commissloner Lowe, seconded by Commis sioner Healy tha t t:leCi ty Manager,
City Attorney and the Chief of Police review the present traffic ordinances with the
view of bringing them up to date and the motion was carried by the following Aye ana
Novo t e ; those voting Aye being Mayor Sorenson, Commissioner Healy and Commissioner
Lowe; those voting No, none.
Adjournment
The re being no further bus ines s to come before the CommisSion at this time, it
was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the meeting adjourn
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being I
Mayor Sorenson, CommiSSioner Healy and Commis 81 oner Lowe; those vo Ung No, none.
