HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-21-16 Public Comment - S. & M. Beehler - Kagy & Sourdough IntersectionWe are writing to urge the City Commissioners to look closely at the dangerous intersection at Kagy and
Sourdough/Church. The traffic pattern there is fraught with problems, especially in the morning and
afternoon hours when people are driving to and from work. The problems arise because drivers are
very unsure who has the right-of-way and are desperate to find slots in the oncoming traffic. Left
turners onto Kagy can't decide who should go first; then everyone starts out at once, causing cars to pile
up in the intersection amid oncoming Kagy traffic. It is really quite dangerous. We have lived south of
Kagy since 1997, and since then, we have seen several near accidents. Also, drivers turning right onto
Kagy pull up beside cars waiting to go straight or turn left. These right turners then block the view of
those other cars, causing more trouble. The worst scenario, though, occurs when a car coming south or
north on Sourdough or Church does not yield right-of-way to a car coming the opposite direction, even
though it arrived first at the intersection. As the traffic increases, this situation will only get worse.
Please strongly consider placing a signal at this location; it could very likely save lives.
Sincerely,
Sharon Beehler
