Re: Mobile Vending Ordinance
Dear Mayor Taylor and City Commissioners,
My first question to you and other City Commissioners is "why?"
Why are you even considering this Ordinance in the first place? I personally know or have met
almost every single restaurant and/or bar operator in Downtown Bozeman and can tell you that
the acceptance of this ordinance will create "pain and suffering"for these long-term,
committed restauranteurs. Why would our elected city officials "not listen" to these restaurant
owners who collectively employ thousands of people weekly and serve thousands of downtown
customers nightly.
I can support any Ordinance which makes these restauranteurs' daily grind a bit easier, but this
ordinance does quite the opposite-your ordinance makes their financial lives harder.
It appears to me that the acceptance of this ordinance will be a rather large "slap in the face" to
the majority of downtown restauranteurs.
This is another example of letting the "tail wag the big dog".Alternate solution: Change the
Ordinance to only allow food and retail trucks to operate on private property- not city owned
property, exactly like the food truck adjacent to the fabulous "Lark".
