August 13th, 1947 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, August 13th, 1947, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager Quinnell, Walter Aitken, Attorney, and the Clerk, when the following prooeedings were had: The minutes of the last regular session were read. City Manager Quinnell stated that 1 he thought the minutes should read th,'Ot Resolution No. 609 was tentatively approved, where- upon, it W8.S moved by Commissi onor Sorenson. seoonded by Commissioner Lowe that with this oorrection that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was oarried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Com- missioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Increase in Lioense Fee for Beer Walter Aitken, Attorney, stated that in view of the fact that the 1947 Legislature made it permissible for cities and towns to oharge the same lioense fee for beer as the state fee that the city beer ordinanoe should be amended so that the City could get this additional revenue. Bids for Trucks and Garbage Loaders The Manager stated that this was the time and place set for the opening of bids for two garbage loaders and packers, and for two t~Jcks on which to mount the loaders. He presented and read the affidavit of publication of the Notice to Bidders, whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson tha t the bids be opened and read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye I being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Sorenson; thos e vo tlng No, none. Leach Compactor Refuse Getter 6780.00 After the reading of the bids as submitted, representatives of the different bidders were given an opportunity to explain the pieces of equipment offered, the City Manager suggested that the bids be tabulated and taken under advisement and it was so ordered. 17 Bids for Steel Buildings The Manager stated that this was the time and place set for the opening of bids for prefabricated steel buildings to be erected at the City Yards. The affidavit of publication and the Notice to Bidders was presented and read, whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the bids be opened and read, and the motion I was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commi ssl oner Lowe and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. The following bids were thereupon opened and read: Armco Drainage & Metal Products Co. . 2,105.36 each building as advertised. Ra y Anderson Armco 2,589.89 $1695.20 Erection Cost Sullivan Motors for Quonset Building 2,016.00 It was decided to tabulate the bids as submitted and to take them under advisement for final action eta la ter de te . Applications forCity Licenses The following applications for City Licenses were presented and read: Parkwa y Grocery James Conne It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the appli- cations be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No va te; tho~1 e voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Co~is sioner Sorenoon and Commissioner Lowe; those votlng No, none. Misc W & C 1946 , A communication from George L. C lin e , 620 North Bozeman, was read, asking permission \ to construct his own sidewalk stating that at present he was busy with the harvest and promising the walk would be buil t b~l October Is t, 1947. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that an extension of time be gran ted to parmi t Mr. Cline to construct his own walk provided that the walk be completed by October 1st, 1947 and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vo te ; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Appropriation Ordinance No. 743 The Manager presented and read Appropriation Ordinance No. 743, for the fiscal year 1 ending June 30th, 1948, entitled: AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR EXPENDITURES DEEMED NECESSARY AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH BUDGETaRY REQUIREMENTS FOR MAINTENANCE ETC., OF THE MUNICI- PAL GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 1948. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the Ordinance be provisionally passed and August 20th, 1947 be set as the de te for public hearing and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. 18 Salary Ordinance No. 744 The annual salary ordinance fixing the salary of the heads of the departments and the employees of the City Commission was presented and read, entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA FIXING THE MONTHLY SALARY AND OFFICIAL BOND OF THE CITY MANAGER, THE HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS, AND THE EMPLOYEES OF THE CIT{ COMMISSION AS REQUIRED BY LAW. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded b;; Commissioner Sorenson that the Ordi- 1 nance be pa sBed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Communications: -- FWA for Hyalite Water Project City Manager Q~innell read a letter written to the Federal Works Agency, asking for application forms for an FWA advance planning loan, if money is available for the purpose of providing a survey for addi tional wa ter supply (Eyali te Pro ,1ect) for The City of Bozeman. Advertising Helena Jaycee Air Show was read A communication from the Helena, Junior Chamber of Commerce,jasking permission to drop leaflets over the City of Bozeman from an airplane to advertise their Air Show to be presented in Helena, August 30th, and 31st, 1947. It was thought that permission should not be granted for this request and th8t the Junior Chamber of Helena, be informed that the City of Bozeman would rather the leaflets would not be dropped over the City. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Connnission at this time, it was moved and seconded that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following I Aye and No vo te; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
