Sewer in Brady's Rearrangement Mrs. Margaret C. ,Tones. 4H3 North Wallace appeared before the Commission to make a complaint on alleged damsfe to a fence along her property being caused by the piling of dirt from a sewer ditch being constructed in the adjoining alley by Mr. Ike Brady. Mrs. Jones was informed that the City Ensdneer would investigate the matter and that Mr. Brady in an agreement with the City for the construction of this sewer is posting a bond to indem- nji'y the city from an y dama ge whi ch !1'.igh t re suI t from the cons truc tion. Resolu tion No. 611 - - Assessment for S.I.D.342 The Manager s ta ted too t the resolution levying the assessment in the amount of i$4,700.UO for the construction of Special Improvement District No. 342, sanitary sewer in the alley between Eleventh and Twelfth Avenues from Koch to College Street had been prepared. He presented Resolution No. 611, en ti tied: A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA LEVYING- AND I ASSESSING- A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON ALL THE PROPERTY IN SPECIAL IMPROVE~mNT DISTRICT NO. 342 IN T HE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLATIN, STATE OF MONTANA, TO DEFRAY THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING AND MAKING THE IM- PROVEMENTS WITHIN SAID SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 342. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the reso- lution be provisionally passed and September 17th, 1947 be set as the date for the hear- ing of protests and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; thos e vo ting No, none. Bids for Street Markers The Manager presented a plan showing existing street marking signs and proposed in- stallation of new signs. This proposed installation would provide street marking signs at each intersection on arterial streets and a skeleton installation with signs approx- imately at alternate intersections on all other parts of the City. The plan would neces- sitate the inqtallation of 200 posts with two signs per post. The plan included a pro- posed call for bids of 400 signs with the necessary brackets and fittings. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the Clerk of the CommiSSion be instructed to advertise for bids for the necessary material to complete the proposed plan and the motion was carried b;r the following Rye and No vote; those voting Aye being I Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; tho se voting No, none. Offer to ~~ell Land The Manager stated that the City had been given a verbal offer to purchase the "Spieth Property" a t the corner of Rouse & Babcock in the rear of the City Hall. Reports The following reports were presented and read: Chief of Police Director of Finance Cashier City Engineer Sanitary Inspector 27 It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Agreement for Construction of Sewer ~~I The Manager presented an agreement between The City of Bozeman and Ike Brady, regarding a sewer he is constructing in the alley between Lot 2 of Babcock & Davis Addition and ex tending Brady's Rearrangement of Lot 1, Babcock & Davis Addition,/from Ida AVenue to Brady Avenue and south on Brady Avenue approximately seventy feet. Said sewer is to be constructed under the supervision of the City Engineer and according to the City's specifications and an Indemnity Policy is to be furnished the City by Ike Brady, to protect the City from any liability. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commicc'sioner Lowe tha t the agreement be accepted subject to the Indemnity Policy being furnished and approved, and tha t the Ma yor and the Clerk of the Commis sion be authorized to sign the agreement for The City of Bozeman, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye belng Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Bids for Sewage Treatment Equipment The call for bids for sewage treB tment equipment\ to be opened October Is t, 1947, as ,'It prepared by Burns & McDonnell, Consulting Engineers, was presented and read. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the Clerk of the City Commis- .1 sion be authorized to have the call for bids published as required by law, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commis- sioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Manager to Join Manager's Association The matter of the City Manager becoming a member of the International City Manager's Association was discussed, and it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by CommiS- sioner Lowe that the City Manager be authorized to join said association and that the membership fee be paid from the General Fund, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe: those voting No, Tlone. Request to Connect to Ci ty Sewer A written request from Mrs. A. B. Taylor, 1102 West Babcock, to connect to the City sewer was presented and read. The Manager stated that a similar request had been made in 1934 and 1936, and was granted under certain conditions, namely; that the owner be re- quired to extend the sewer from the present sewer end to the street adjacent to the owner's property; this extension to be of not less than six inches in size; to be built to the I specifications and under the supervision of the City Engineer, and to become the property of the City of Bozeman upon its completion; that the owner pay all expenses of connection to the sewer extension and in addition thereto pay a fee of $50.00, and further that the owner shall pay any and all service charges which might be assessed in the fu ture for sewer use. It was agreed by the Commission that the proposal was still valid and that no changes thereto were reauired. The MaTlager was instructed to so inform the owner. 28 Commissioner LO'Ne asked to be excused and permission was granted. Firemen To Attend Fire School The Mana~er reported tha t a three day fire school would be held in Polson, the la 8 t of this month, September 25th, 26th, and 27th; that the Fire Chief would like to send two men to this school. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that it being in the public interest that two members of the Fire Department attend said I Fire School, and that their expenses be paid from the General Fund and the motion was car- ried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
