SUBJECT: Authorize the City Manager to sign the Notice of Award to award the
contract for the 2017 Pavement Markings project to Montana Lines, Inc. in the amount of
$106,445.25.

RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the City Manager to sign the Notice of Award to award the
contract for the 2017 Pavement Markings project to Montana Lines, Inc. in the amount of
$83,476.10.
BACKGROUND: Bids were opened June 6, 2017, for the 2017 Pavement Markings project.
The project consists of replacement of pavement markings on streets scheduled for re-paving or chip sealing this year, as shown on the attached plan sheet. The pavement markings will be
highly-durable inlaid thermoplastic. One bid was received for the project, from Montana Lines,
Inc. of Great Falls, Montana, in the amount of $106,445.25. The bid appears to be competitive
with the bid being approximately 15% below the construction estimate ($126,018.00). A copy of
the Certified Bid Tabulation is attached.
UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
FISCAL EFFECTS: Funding for this work has been planned for from the Street
Maintenance fund.

PROJECT: City of Bozeman 2017 Pavement Markings
CONTRACT FOR: Installation of inlaid thermoplastic pavement markings
You are notified that your Bid dated June 6, 2017, for the above Contract has been considered. You are the
apparent Successful Bidder and have been awarded a Contract for installation of inlaid thermoplastic
pavement markings.
The Contract Price of your Contract is: one hundred six thousand four hundred forty five and 25/100
Dollars ($106,445.25).
Three copies of the proposed Contract Documents accompany this Notice of Award.
You must comply with the following conditions precedent within fifteen (15) days of the date of this
Notice of Award, that is, by .
1. You must deliver to the OWNER 3 fully executed counterparts of the Agreement including all the
Contract Documents and Drawings.
2. You must deliver with the executed Agreement the Contract Security (Bonds) as specified in the
Instruction to Bidders (page 7), General Conditions (paragraph 5.01) and Supplementary Conditions
(paragraph SC-5.02).
3. List other conditions precedent:
You must deliver with the executed Agreement the Certificates of Insurance as specified in
the General Conditions (paragraph 5.03) and Supplementary Conditions (paragraph SC-5.04).
Failure to comply with these conditions within the time specified will entitle OWNER to consider your
Bid abandoned, to annul this Notice of Award, and to declare your Bid Security forfeited.
Within ten (10) days after you comply with these conditions, OWNER will return to you one fully
signed counterpart of the Agreement with the Contract Documents attached.
